3.0 thermostat
« on: 21 March 2007, 14:32:27 »

When I rebuild the Elite I want a new stat

I've heard that there is something you can do, in order to use the 2.0 stat? Mark, you mentioned it once.

Any ideas how this is done, and if it's OK to do?

If the housing is ok.......you can fit a repalcement bayonet insert...these are the same across most 95 onwards vaux engines (i.e. 2.0)

Can you still test the stats in a saucepan of boiling water?

Yes, you can still test them in boiling water.....

The fitting is a bayonet style setup so you press the retaining plate in and rotate it to release it....dead obvious when you look at one....
