Not really.

Why would you want to test before installation?
Buy a genuine Vx one. If (and I have never heard of one) you get a duffer, just remove and return for exchange.

Agreed!  However it may be a scrap one!  You can test it for coninuity, you'll get a loaded coil resistance.. DON'T KNOW THE VALUE.
Also, as with ABS sensors, if you spin the wheel you'l get a reading on A/C volts range. I assume that like wise you'll get a reading from a CPS by passing a pice of iron over it back and forth...  Heat may then be a factor if the lead or plug is Donald Ducked...

As said by Laidback though, slap a new one on, VSC on e-bay supplied mine, way less than VX and it was a Siemens brand too..
