Servicing airbags???
« on: 22 March 2007, 14:08:48 »

I seem to remember from various cars that it is recommended that you have your airbags serviced / checked after 10 years.  Why?  What is there to do? and bearing in mind that quite a few of us here have Omegas around that age, has anybody ever had it done?

I believe that one of the problems is with the airbag battery and possible deteriation of the fabric that the airbag is made from. :-/

Do not know of anyone who has hd this done.

Perhaps The Boy or Marks DTM Calib will know.

No mention of it in the handbook or service schedules as far as I can see.

Make sure you wear your seatbelt and drive carefully...  NOT sarcasim, I witnessed an accident once, air bag deployed, inertia and deceleration forces naturally sent the driver at 30 degrees away from the air bag... if he'd not got his belt on, in my opinion he'd have hit the A pillar or the air bag would have sent him at a glance through the side window...  DON'T trust these things fully, they are a secondary safety device after all..
