Cabin recirculation
« on: 25 July 2016, 15:47:47 »

Okay, so the only thing(*) that's bugging the hell out of me on the "new" '98 Elite is the fact that every time I turn the ignition, the cabin air recirculation is switched on even though I switched it off last time. Is there some magic combination of button pressing I have to do to make it stay off ??

(*) Okay, there's actually a small list, but we'll start with this one ;)

Could be a knackered air quality sensor.

Pretty unlikely on a PFL/MFL Elite....   ....as it doesn't have one :P

When this question came up a few years ago I think MDTM pointed to a technical bulletin from Vauxhall saying it could be caused by the battery voltage dropping below 8 volts (from memory).

Mine used to do it but hasn't done so since I had to replace the regulator in the alternator so they may be on to something....

Excellent, I'll give that a go at lunchtime. Failing that, I'll pop down to Tesco for a sacrificial chicken...

If you charge the battery then start the car, it may prove a voltage issue. When my alt packed up I didn't notice the ac turning on by itself tho.

No chicken needed - the time honoured method of turning it off and back on again did the trick  :y

Now for the next item on the list...
