Head gasket or oil cooler?
« on: 12 January 2008, 17:14:19 »

Hello, just bought my first omega, was a bit hasty about buying it, took the lid of the oil & there was the mayonaise! It ran fine, and after driving it home the substance has gone. There is nothing in the water and nothing on the dipstick.
Managed to get it down to a bargin price because of this!

Its 3.0 elite, is there any way I can tell if its head gasket on its way out or the oil cooler?
Thanks

It's normal on a car that hasn't done too many long runs recently. Oil in the coolant is the sure sign of oil cooler failure. I'd give it an oil change for good measure and see how it goes.
