General Discussion Area / Probably one for an IT geek...
« on: 30 October 2012, 15:27:32 »
I'm looking for a way to extract the name and address details from search results (on yell/thompson/other listing sites) and dump them into a .csv file for my reference. Anyone know of an easy way to do it?

For a start I'm trying to lift the garage names and addresses from these results:

Thanks in advance

And I'll never mention the songs of ABBA ever again ;D ;D

I'd post it in the parts section but some stroppy admin has nobbled my post count ::)

As per the title really... My local parts place has offered me a Brand New, Pattern Rad for an Auto Omega. I can get it for £65 + delivery costs if anyone is interested.

General Discussion Area / Hamilton signs with Mercedes
« on: 28 September 2012, 08:29:37 »
Can't link to it as on phone but he's signed with Mercedes. Perez gets his seat at McLaren.

He'll be paid more but claims that wasn't a factor in his decision ::)

Must admit, I'm quite pleased that Only Connect is back on BBC Four. It can be a bit complicated sometimes but you doe get to look at Victoria's wonderful chest! Although the picture below was found quickly on Google and not the best shot ::)

General Discussion Area / Today I have been mostly...
« on: 22 September 2012, 23:06:38 »
...trying to watch some club level racing at Brands.

My employee in Kent is part of the team that race at club level in a Fiesta. He wanted the day off so I was on call but invited to the day with full paddock access :y To be fair, I am (now) a sponsor although I get it for free :y I have agreed to pay for the fuel at the next meet though :y

Anyway... Turned up at 8 this morning and managed to keep my hands in my pockets for about 40 mins ::) Then I started helping ;D It's running a 1600 OHC engine on 4 Suzuki GSXR Carbs. They've just fitted a new clutch and lightened (by 4.5Kgs) flywheel. There's plenty more but anyway... Got it off the trailer, checked it over and then on a short test drive it was obvious the clutch was slipping ::) After a little digging I managed to discover that they hadn't adjusted the cable since the change (completed 2 days ago ;)) so sorted that  :y

We passed scrutineering and sound checks so chilled and watched some racing...  Caterhams, Radicals, sprint cars... Great fun, especially as we were strolling around the paddock and pits :y

Just as it was time for practice and qualifying I got a job in Caterham so had to shoot off  >:( Managed to get it sorted and get back 5 mins before the first race :y First lap was going well, 2nd... Nowhere to be seen ::) Ended up losing all drive (fuel pump feed failed) and getting punted off ::) Why is it always a BMW :-X ::)

Finally get the car back and we had 15 mins to get it ready to race :o Sorted the dodgy fuel pump feed (after giving way all sorts of trade secrets :-X) so we had 5 mins to secure the bodywork and exhaust (which had objected to the trip across the grass) so we were cracking on... Another job ::) Missed the race but we did get him on track and it went well :y  I have been invited again :y

General Discussion Area / IT geeks - Advice needed please!
« on: 24 August 2012, 12:36:38 »
Right, although I'm not a complete Luddite I really don't understand completely so I thought I should just ask the IT geeks knowledgeable bods on here ::)

Although most of my business software is cloud based I still have things stored locally on the laptop. I know that I need the facility to back this up and I've been playing with fire leaving it as long as I have :-[ If I'm going to pay out for something I may as well get something that fits the bill properly ;) So I need to get myself a NAS drive that will also work as a print server. I have 2 printers (1 is an All-in-one and if I can also scan remotely on it then all the better!) that I want to connect via USB.

I may as well get at least 1TB so I have plenty of space. Price isn't as important as quality, although I don't want to spend too much!

Over to the experts... Any suggestions please?
