has anyone changed the heater plugs on a 2.5td,is it an easy job,any tips ?  and where is the cheapest place to buy them.many thanks jamie weeks

Used 'BOSCH' myself, got 6 brand new, from screwbay for £30, works out at £5 each.
About 90 mins work, as I was takin' it easy, (first time I done them) Need a deep 12mm socket to remove the plugs, as they are in quite deep!!
Also gace all the manifold bolts a good dose of 'plusgas' the night before to help loosen 'em up...
Just go nice & steady and all will be OK

Removing wipers and plastic tray under them made life easier for removing and replacing the back nuts although not imposable to do without doing this. There was also a hose clip holding the rubber pipe to the underside of the inlet-manifold so don't just iank it off like I did thinking it was just stubborn. To get the extra room for the twist I lifted the dipstick out.
Must admit went against the advice  of getting the best plugs on the basis that what I own would not warrant the bigger money. A fine saying said to me `Horses for courses`

iv,e had my inlet manifold off twice wasn,t too bad. i never removed the battery. first time though i dropped one of the rear nuts whilst reassemble which was a pain to retrieve as it went behind the starter motor. you may want to put some thing under manifold to prevent it. if you need to replace the manifold gaskets range rover dealers were doing them cheapest  :

I don't intend to do it again though Turk, but with that said when I was about to buy the plugs I wasn't sure whether I should fix he car or scrap it so just 2 cheep plugs would see to the end of mot (aug) as from that point I can then decide whether to keep it or look for a better one and keep as donor or drop engine and box to sell to a taxi driver and scrap the poor looking shell. (it is in a very sad shape/state, no sharps pointing out but been bumped and banged a few times).I still got the plugs I bought as didnt see point in fitting when the back two wasnt conected.

As for manifold gasket I bought sheets of gasket and cut out the ovals with sharp blade that seems to work fine.
