So I am there deep in V, Y26SE V6. Looking for Torque Values. Is it so that Sandwich Plate to Heads is 20Nm and thus next part Intage Bridge to Sandwich Plate is 20Nm, too. How about those four bolts of plenum to Intake?

Good to know about Erling, in my case they failed as the mayonese in breather blocked the system in -20 degrees. Victor Reinz was recommended somewhere here in OOF.

OK, thanks, I used ELRING last time and they were linked acc to Autodoc picture, but if these are ok, I continue, thanks again.

Just opening the package of Victor Reinz 15-34268-02 to install cam cover seals. Is it really so that there are two separate seals for one cover. I remember when I removed the old one four weeks ago that it was in one piece, there was some kind of 'Bridge' that joint these two seals together in both ends, so are these OK??

Omega General Help / Assembling Temperature of Black Sealant
« on: 07 March 2024, 16:32:36 »
Still working with my V6 Cam Covers, bought Loctite 5910, as I understood it is "as good as" the original GM 90485251. So it's cold, 5 degrees Celcius in my Garage. I can heat up the air but heads might stay cold a long time. Is there any minimum temperature for assembling with those sealats.

yes i have noticed that the omega does tend to produce mayo but luckily due to the design it collects up in the (removeable) filler neck so easy to clean out now and again. not helped with mine with short journeys but it has had gm oil in for the last 3 changes.  be nice to know if other oils are better / worse in this matter .ive heard that castrol is bad ?.
mannol will be my next choice especialky at around £45 for 20l
The mayo also tends to form in the breather system as well.  Hence needing to keep away from oils that are susceptible

That is what I found, too, frozen mayo in my breather system created much work when parked outside after short journies in -22 degrees Celcius, now changing cam cover seals.
How about Mobil Semisyn 10W40. Does that fulfil Omega V6 Y26SE spec, actually what the spec is? API SL?

Omega General Help / Re: GM Black Sealant 90485251

Much is mentioned of the GM black sealant but according to those who worked at Ellesmere Port assembling the V6's, Loctite 5910 was used.

Thanks for all comments, bought today Locktite 5910 (reasonable price here) as mentioned here and in the older therad.

Victor Reinz I did not find and this Elring is perhaps not available anymore?

Changed Bonnet Strut to my Omega, yes, just one. Ordered two but the other original was still in good condition. Now I have a spare and it is easier to work there without that wooden stick...

Omega General Help / GM Black Sealant 90485251
« on: 25 January 2024, 15:12:56 »
Starting to assemble cam covers for V6 soon, found my old Black Sealant 9048525. There is still enough for at least one cover but it is 10 years I last time used it. It is still liquid, so perhaps usable?? Is there any "Best Before" time after first time opened?

GM dealer told that new number for that product is 1679592380, any experience of that, price is 54 euro (80ml) here in Finland.

Is there any as good products to be used there e.g. Loctite e.g. 5922 or 5926?

Thanks Enceladus for reply and tips, quite strange breather construction, who designs such small  diameter piping for that important task.

14
Thanks DG, I do my best, not to dismantle more...
