Title: Not long now.
Post by: Rangie on 17 February 2024, 08:52:24
Got an email yesterday re our forthcoming Carribbean cruise, boarding passes now available to download + luggage labels & ID photos required, on the website many people have complained how difficult it was to get this done, I am certainly not computer savvy but got it all done in 20 minutes , flights confirmed & seats booked weeks ago , looking forward to some sunshine 🌞 ✈️🛳️✈️🛳️🌞

I'm jealous. That sounds good but must cost a pretty penny. :y

Remember to bring back a stick of rock for all of us. ;)

Thanks Steve, we're both looking forward to it, did the Canaries last year & it was superb couldn't fault anything, if the comments on this one are anything to go by it should be fabulous, and as for the food it really is mouthwatering 👍

After losing my cousin last year & my brother in law in January we've both said we're going to enjoy every minute that's possible you can't take it with you, no point in being the richest person in the cemetery.

No pockets in a shroud!

Enjoy every minute. Have you got your elasticated waist trousers packed and ready?

Hope you have a good time.

I'm very envious Mick and I hope you have a wonderful time . Your Port of call list sounds beautiful.
You are correct in living for the moment .
We planned our retirement for over 35 years and had many plans to do as you are doing but Sheilagh's series of  strokes took it all away from us .
So get out there and enjoy it  :y

They say that once you've caught the cruising bug it's hard to kick.  :)

I've always wanted to cross the Atlantic and when I was younger wanted to get crewing gig on a yacht, but never did it. I physically couldn't do that now, so doing it on a cruise liner is probably my only realistic option.  :-\

Maybe I'll find a wealthy heiress!  :y   ;D

What a cracking itinerary, enjoy! I'm very jealous.  :y

I'm 40 this year and between SWMBO being on the unpaid part of her maternity leave and some work on the house getting done we'd agreed we weren't doing anything much.

Apparently she had other ideas and booked us on a week's RCCL cruise out of Southampton in May, I can't wait but I'm guessing you will have the better weather  8).

Thanks everyone, yes got to take advantage of being reasonably healthy and not putting things off, I've seen plans relatives have made being cruelly snatched away in the blink of an eyelid recently, you just don't know what's around the corner.

My mum is 88 in March and she has booked us both a long weekend coach trip to Newquay first weekend in March, she said we shall keep doing trips while she is still capable. I have to chaperone ,she has zero sense of direction and would get lost in the hotel finding the restaurant!!!

We just decided to go to the Fallas in Valencia. Bit last minute. 250 a night b and b .denand far outstrips supply.

Always wanted to go. Cost is fairly academic. It will be another thing ticked off my bucket list.

Mick, little tip for you which may come in handy should you run out and need more USD. The ships all have cash machines on but charge a hefty fee as you might imagine.

However, if you go to the casino onboard you can load your cruise card with any amount of cash from your bank account/credit card to bet with no fee. You can then immediately go to the teller and cash out in whatever the ship's home currency is (all USD in the Carribbean), again at no charge. No need to bet anything.  :y

I've used this trick once or twice as we tend not to take much physical cash with us when we travel.

Thanks for the heads up that's great to know..👍
This is only our second cruise so still learning, we've got £800 OBC but the only place that you can't use it is the casino so loading the card is a good idea just in case.

If you use your bank card for purchases, always select local currency if you're asked. If you choose Sterling you can be charged your bank rate PLUS whatever fees/rates the vendor/their bank might use. Paying in the local currency prevents this.

We use a Halifax Clarity Card for all foreign transactions whilst away. No transaction fees, irrespective of which country it is used in, and very favourable currency exchange rates; better than the local banks, and way better than any exchange bureau or ATM withdrawals. Not sure whether you have to have a Halifax current account now to have the card......
