I discovered the A/C had packed up in the server room at work recently. It was like walking into a sauna. I was told there was no need to panic until it got well past 50 degrees, so went back to my chair, logged onto OOF and forgot about it.
Do they still use halon gas in those places if there's a fire?

Halon not been used for a while, all Inergen gases now in use so the Data Centre spiders don't cark it.

Getting your mate to slice your ears off with a razor blade is a bit extreme !

If industry standard servers, you'll see a few failures over the next 3 months or so ;)

50C is a bit warm, even for ultra modern stuff.  If they are real server hardware, they should be shutting down automatically at around 40-45C.

As you know, I am very much an expert on these kind of things, but confidentiality contract disallows me from discussing it in further detail.
One of them is in a big black cabinet rather like an oversized  fridge freezer type of thing. The other stuff looks like lots of racks big hifi units with lots of wires and blinking lights.

Removed the bush from the genuine GM carlton / senator idler arm I bought the other day. Managed to give my self a nice black nail in the process, which is standard really.
Now have to decide whether to acquire an Omega idler arm to fit it into, or remove the bush from the one on the car and fit it into that.
Doing it with a spare arm is less risky than taking the arm off the car, so might try for that route. At least if I mess it up somehow, the car is still useable.

Oops, mistook this for the "what have you done to your car" thread. If an admin is at a loose end, fell free to move it. Thanks.

Fixed the Tamiya Hotshot, after breaking it against a wall. What broke? Driveshaft.

I wound have expected the plastic wishbones to die first  :-\

Looks like Guildford and Central Londonium for me next week :(

Might see if I can get out of the London one by showing a willingness to do Guildford - not that I fancy that shithole either ;D

Finished in the garden at last, and then emailed my Senior Officer at my place of work informing him that I will not be returning to work after my 12 weeks of shielding asking that my leave be used in Lieu of notice , retirement looming 😄😀😄
