Wash it yourself. Lazy sod. :)

Can we do this?  Most houses in Liverpool don't have a drive  :P

No different from London. I want to wash my car and don't have a drive but have a secluded area to work in

Missed some of the replies

Tigger, if the Cov-19 outbreak gets worse and building sites start shutting down, being self employed, I will be up the creek and there will be a very cheap BMW for sale  :-\

I'm working at Battersea Power Station and there are 5,000 people working here. There is someone coughing here every 5 seconds and 80% of people don't know what a shower is   :-X

My stepson has a MK2 Focus for when I need to visit the rougher parts of the country.  :y  but the reason for selling is so I could use the money for travel and holidays with the family and generally enjoyment rather than having a car sit in the garage losing money

Or B8 Audi S4 with 3.0T engine, decent one will cost a bit more than £10k though

Friend of mine (ex Omega owner) has a D3 Audi S8 - cost him £4k IIRC and so far he's done nothing but routine maintenance and fit the uprated vac canister actuators you can buy..

Lovely car and you could fit a whole rugby team in the back, let alone three kids. Not to mention the dozen bodies you could fit in the boot..

S8 is too big and long to fit into garage, A6/S6 should be ok though. I was surprised to get the omega in there without having to fold the mirrors in which I couldn't do with my Saab 9-3

Yeah, it's 20mph where I live so I often take longer routes with a bit of dual carriageway for 5 seconds of enjoyment.  :D Like on date nights.  ;D Can't be bothered doing that anymore.

Are Mazda 6 any good? Out of all the bog standard family cars, I think they look alright

Or B8 Audi S4 with 3.0T engine, decent one will cost a bit more than £10k though

Reasons for not wanting a diesel other than the obvious is the ultra low emission zones in London and the plans to expand the zone next year. So absolutely no diesels.

I'm open to any suggestions even batmobiles if they run on petrol and within budget  ;D

Morning gents  :)

Thinking of selling my BMW 340i, not using it as much as I would like to, can't commute in it due to parking restrictions and certain areas I need to visit, wouldn't want to. Also I don't get to use the power for more than 5 seconds before reaching silly speeds so keeping this car doesn't make financial sense at the moment.

What would I replace it with that is modern, big enough in the back for three kids (no MPVs) petrol and preferably auto? Lots of power is not essential, 3.2V6 levels of acceleration would do for safely overtaking. Reasonable running costs so no 10 year old Range Rovers !  :P

Sadly the world has gone diesel crazy and a vast majority of modern cars run on the devils pee  :(

Where is the best place to search for used cars? Private sellers seem to have abandoned Autotrader now

I guess I need to read the small print about what day insurance covers. Would it be unreasonable if I asked for a refundable deposit if day insurance doesn't cover fault claims?

Mine has electric seats too which is quite rare on the 3 series. This was one of my criteria because of my back. I agree, the Omegas are supremely comfortable  :'(

Sorry to offend any BMW/Merc/Audi drivers  :P  but a lot of them are knobs. I'm turning into one  :-[

Its a weird one, padding in the lumber region gives me a back ache. All the cars I have owned have given me some pain and after turning lumber support fully off I feel comfy. Problem with German manufactures is that they make you pay extra for it and most people don't spec them.

I don't want to swap out seats, I think that would put a lot of buyers off in the future.

I would try selling privately first before WBAC or trading in it, see how that goes. Although I can see the benefits of doing so. BMW, Merc, Audis do see to attract a certain breed of drivers. There will certainly be plenty of tyre kickers and test pilots.

I paid cash for the car. I have been looking at the C43 AMG coupe but they are still ridiculously expensive so will wait a bit

As for test drives, surely fully comp only covers driving other cars TP only. So great for third party but not so for me

General Car Chat / Selling an expensive car

So I recently bought a 2017 BMW 340i. Waited a long time for one with the right spec so when this one came up on the BMW used approved site, I put a deposit down and bought it without test driving it.

On the way home after a while I noticed my lower back was hurting but I just assumed (and hoped) I'll play about with seat positions and it'll be fine. I have owned it around a month or so I'm still not comfortable, from as little as 20 mins drive.

So I have decided to sell it. This car is £20k+ so I wanted to ask how you would deal with potential buyers wanting test drives?

Payment I guess would be back transfer only but is it reversible?

I sold mine for measly £400. It was one of the last models, in the best colour and spec  :'(  and the engine had jusy run in (at a mere 150k)

I was about to book my flights with them for October until a work colleague told me about their impending demise. Phew, disaster averted. Kids would have been devastated  8)
