My Average MPG went from hovering around 25.7/25.6 as soon as I put E10 in it started it's miserable decline down to 25.2. Sure it'll be worse after tonights thrashing!

They're shutting off the clydeside expressway and junctions off the M8 into "Glesga" going to be bedlam as M8 isn't great at the best of times for congestion (Congestion = more of their dreaded pollution). I was going to rent my house out for 2 weeks for a grand a night (Self-Catering) for some of the dignataries, as I'm near Glasgow airport, but I think a lot of them are coming into Edinburgh airport - shame!  ;D

that makes sense now that you mention where the sensors are. There is what looks like a blanking plate at the top of the B pillar but it's just a bit of trim.  :y

Was getting a bit alarmed there!

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / alarm or not?
« on: 21 October 2021, 14:02:30 »
Was speaking to a guy recently about getting a replacement key fob, and he'd asked does it have an alarm, immediately I thought well Yes, since I've reoved the power sounder and the hazards flash if I jack the car or open bonnet when it's locked, but he asked does it have sensors inside. Going by my cavalier diplomat which has those movement sensors up top of the B pillar, like little built in microphones, I though it woud have, but it doesn't seem to.

So is there different types of alarms on the omega, the guy said some dont have the sensors, so what does it have if that's not an alarm?

Mine was doing this but it was leaking out the bottom seal so slowly emptying, just fashioned a seal I had for something else and replaced it.

Be interesting to ask them how they think all their mobile phones and fancy trainers and tops were made (and imported from)? Would it be directly or indirectly through using fossil fuels maybe?

Omega General Help / Re: Brakes getting spongy again
« on: 29 August 2021, 13:00:16 »

Cheers mate will check all that in due course. Had freed off the F/O/S caliper about a year and a half ago, and it went sticky again so it might be I need new slider seals or something.

I would suggest that new pins and seals would be sensible at this point, just to save messing about in the future. That's <£10 per side, and means you can concentrate your effort on cleaning out the bores they slide in - soak them in solvent and scotchbrite.

Seized calipers tend to make the pedal harder, not spongy.

I realised this, but i don't think it'll do any harm as I've noticed the lower section of the disc on the N/S isn't as shiny as the upper part of the disc, leading me to think  the caliper sliders might be sticky again.

also .extra suggestions.
if you clamp the front hoses and the pedal feels much better then its an issue with the fronts.usually the slider pins but can be air or hoses as suggested.
if you clamp the rear and the pedal feels much better then its a rear issue.again could be air or hoses but also could be seized pads in the caliper or a stuck piston causing the disc to push to one side.
if you bleed it all and it goes perfect ,then starts to go softer again a few weeks/ months down the line suspect a caliper slightly leaking seal drawing air back in .
just afew ideas

Ok I'll have a look at the flexis/pipes as a start and then onto the master cyclinder.

Cheers all

Omega General Help / Brakes getting spongy again
« on: 22 August 2021, 17:34:36 »
Not that long ago I put new front discs and pads and had rebuilt the rears with new discs and pads and pin set. I changed the fluid as well and bled with one of those one way valves. Brakes were brilliant, now they are starting to feel quite spongy again, like they way they were before when I hadn't bled them correctly. Pedal travel is getting further down and the bite they had is gone.

Any idea why they might be getting spongy again, the fluid is up to level - hasn't dropped - and all the serviceable items are only recently replaced.

Cheers

Andrew

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Car pass
« on: 09 August 2021, 18:01:38 »
Hi

Anyone know how to get the car pass, need it for new key? I read a guide using "My Naff Code Reader", which I have but didn't fancy the part about mucking about with the ECU to extract a hex code from the guts of the set up files. Other than that would stealership have this info now?

Thanks
Andrew

2 types of 3 button ones used on facelift saloons, and they are not interchangeable.

Last one I bought from the dealer was only about £25 by the time VAT was added, though that was pre Pug days.

The cheap fob cases have hard buttons, which means you end up pressing it harder, and it wrecks the switches - another reason I always bought new GM fobs.

Thanks, maybe try the stealership, hopefully they've got some left after the pug clearout.
