Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Car pass
« on: 09 August 2021, 18:01:38 »
Hi

Anyone know how to get the car pass, need it for new key? I read a guide using "My Naff Code Reader", which I have but didn't fancy the part about mucking about with the ECU to extract a hex code from the guts of the set up files. Other than that would stealership have this info now?

Thanks
Andrew

2 types of 3 button ones used on facelift saloons, and they are not interchangeable.

Last one I bought from the dealer was only about £25 by the time VAT was added, though that was pre Pug days.

The cheap fob cases have hard buttons, which means you end up pressing it harder, and it wrecks the switches - another reason I always bought new GM fobs.

Thanks, maybe try the stealership, hopefully they've got some left after the pug clearout.

I'm looking for new keys fob with the little ECU in it as I'm getting sick of these keys buttons not working, one I just had soldered a few months ago has went already.

I was looking at this:

https://www.ecutool.com/products/omega-remote-transmitter-43392mhz-3-buttons-24424728

I know a garage here local who has tech 2 so is it a case of buying the above then getting them to tech 2 it?

Thanks

Andrew
Hmmmm.....Chinese company  :-\

Any Euro/UK companies you can recommend
No, and those might be fine. But I'm a cynical old bugger.

Any port in a storm I suppose lol, can't be any worse than what I've got.

Easier than swapping out the compressor  :D

I had that vision and it wasn't a good one  :y reliefffff!

With the relay in fitted, does it click briefly when you first turn the ignition on?

Also, have you checked fuse 15 under the steering column. It should be 20 Amps ;)

Panic over, I had a look underneath, I think the multiplug onto the compressor must have popped off when I was cleaning under there. It's not the tightest of fits that plug. It wasn't hanging off, just needed pushed back in to connect.

pins 30 and 87 bridged, both front fans came on, comp didn't, had eco off and on LO for temp.
Climate settings irrelevant.

Was the engine running/ignition on 2?
Ignition on 2 and you should hear a loud thunk from the compressor as the fans kick in ;)

Engine running and you should see the clutch face spin.

Either a wiring issue between the relay and the compressor or a dead compressor clutch.

That's exactly what I was watching for, but only fans came on. I never heard the compressor clutch energise.

Yes engine was on as instructed.

Might be the key barrel as opposed to switch. Found my key was a bit sticky, not turning just when putting key in, and got graphite powder, worked a treat, now put it in my cavy ignition lock & house front lock door as well!

It won't stop the compressor kicking in. And if historic codes, that's not unusual.

The sensor is just used to more accurately maintain the cabin temp.

Is the outside temp sensor working reasonably accurately?  Is the ECC asking for the compressor?

Replaced the outside temp sensor not that long ago, reading about 18 oC for today, which is about right.

How do I check if the EEC (?) is asking for the compressor?

That's the sensor on the dash.

You can bridge relay 60 pins 30 and 87 for testing purposes but only do this with the engine running. This will allow you to confirm that the clutch engages and that the system fundamentally works.  ;)

Cheers DG, will check it  :y

Just had my AC fully vac'd and refilled after replacing the condensor, today noticed it's not working, the compressor not kicking on when you turn off eco. Checked pressure looks fine, comp still able to turn ok. Put "My Naff Code Reader" on it and got low solar sensor output left and right.

Would that be why it is not working? Cleared codes wondering if that might give me a clue but still no chilled air.

Thanks

Hmmm, rereading my post suggests that I replace the spring clamps with newer ones. I don't like using/fitting them, don't trust them because I've had too many leak, and fit them straight into the bin. Good quality worm drive clamps are what I replace them with.

Interesting point, at least you know with a worm drive clamp, it's tight. Seems more cars nowadays have them, probably to speed up work times, but then the complexity of car maintenance now is much greater than X years ago, and climbing! Swings and roundabouts.
