General Car Chat / Re: Powerrrrrrr....did you ever think?

if you buy enough of them.  ;D

Yep, not many people know this but 50 years ago today, 21st July 1969, Russia Landed on the Moon,      ....well it was a kind of an Uncontrolled Landing, more of a Crash.

Lunar 15 was sent up by Russia on June 14, 1969, a few days before the Apollo 11 Launch, the Unmanned Spacecraft was capable of certain Scientific Studies including lunar surface photography, Lunar 15 was already in Orbit around the Moon whilst the Apollo 11 was planning its Landing on the Moon on the 20th July, the Russian Spacecraft after completing 86 communications sessions and 52 orbits of the Moon at various inclinations and altitudes began its descent.

Astronauts Armstrong and Aldrin had already set foot on the Moon when Luna 15 fired its main retro rocket engine to initiate descent to the surface at 15:47 UT on 21 July 1969 just hours before Apollo 11 was due to leave.

So possibly a big achievement by Russia then ?, not really as Russia had Landed its first Moon Landing Spacecraft, Lunar 2, on the Moon 10 Years earlier back in 1959.

Once that type of battery has been allowed to go flat once, its oppsed. End of.
This, /\ /\, they may recharge and show correct Volts etc, but once allowed to go flat a few times whilst connected, they never recover to there designed potential.

Just pull the Neg Lead off the Battery if your going to leave the Car to stand for a while (Power Sounder needs to be Removed) or get a simple Battery Terminal Iscolater to do the same job.

Dont bother wasting 15 quid on this, these Repeater Signal Set Ups only work (and then Limited) by Isolating the Signals between the A End (Roof) and B End (Inside Room / Basement), your need to spend heavenly in a proper decent Cable Installation and Route Design, then having spent potentially a High Valve to get that Installed your not going to end up putting a £15 Box in the middle of it to make it all work correctly.

Been using 3G/HSDPA+ and 4G as part of my Internet Access for donkeys years now and the Speeds have always been more positive, consistent and Cost effective over Fixed Line access that have been offered by Who Ever.

As for running a Fixed Phone via VOIP through the Router that can be a bit touch and go, your better off using a Router that will give you a Dumb PSTN Socket on board plug for a normal Phone and run that via the 2G GSM side of it, If, you really must need to run a Fixed Line Phone (with a GSM Number) and hope that the Network Provider will still continue to support 2G Services.

As for , External Aerials, yes a must, you need to get the highest level of Signal Strength or better still, a multiple selection of Cell sites available.

With the 5G now looking at being available in Larger or Unlimited Data Plans, no reason to suggest running a set up like should change, just only improve.

Ive always predicted that with 5G/6G Services being over saturated in Coverage when in the completion phases, the Big 5G/6G Network Player will be offering 4,5 and 6G Tier Fixed Line and Home Broadband Services as a replacement to the Cable from the Street.

If its just for a few days, then just use a phone in Hotspot mode.

If its longer have a look at my Vodafone Unlimited 5G Sim Post in GChat this week, they are doing this on 12, 24m or 30 day plans.

General Discussion Area / Re: Updates
« on: 11 July 2019, 19:30:13 »
Switch Off Auto Updates, let all the other Mugs do a Live Final Test, then when sorted update your own.

For big Updates, I always download it as an Installer from MS directly and then do a Manual Update.

Never had any issues for years doing as above.  ;)

Omega General Help / Re: Belt squeal
« on: 11 July 2019, 17:07:34 »
While your there, if your still there, make sure the Water Pump pulley wheel is securely bolted to the Water Pump, as that can cause a high pitched noise if loose followed by all sorts of problems if it throws the Aux Belt off.

Seems that Unlimited Data Plans could be the New Kid on the Block,    ...again, with the once T Mobile Full Monty and Three's All you can Eat 3G Plans diminished into the background a few years back, and with there fingers burnt, Three seemed to, well kind of, offer Unlimited 4G with some Tethering Restrictions before once again now giving Full Unrestricted Data Use on there Re Branded Unlimited Plan for £22pm (Speed can be subject to FUP), the only other recent Offering was from Virgin Mobile on there Unlimited 4G Data Plans £27pm, that piggy back the EE Network but dont expect EE's Speeds though, as Virgin have stopped using EE's Internet Access and now use there own Data Access to the Nodes or Cell Towers, which can be quiet Throttled compared to EE Speeds.

Now Vodafone have launched there own take on it, offering a 3 Tier Speed Plans with Unlimited Data on their 5G Network (with 4G Roll Back), but at least you know where you stand in terms of your Maximum Speed Delivery, the Plans will have Speed Caps but no so called FUP Throttling, the Plans are Lite (2mbs), Unlimited (10mbs) and Max (Unrestricted).

So bottom line, could be a good thing and possibly force O2 and EE into Like Minded thinking?, or is this Unlimited Data Malarkey just going to be another Flash in the Pan Marketing Ploy, to get Peeps inboard and then start restricting there allowances over time , or is it here to stay?

A 60 litre tank which is most prob what you have...filled to 80% will be 48 litres plus or minus maybe a litre for temperature. Some stations keep filling more than others IE above the 80% which is normal, there’s also the possibility that the float in the tank did not work properly however it’s been said that it’s done more miles than normal on a tankful so it must have been in there. I’ve filled a Senator 100 litre tank to 100 litre and it was in there!! I was not paying attention at the time as we expect the pump to do it for us. It’s just an anomaly he got what he paid for.

Right, thanks, that makes it all clear, I think! ;D ;D ;D :y
ok just to clarify, my original post was based on the fact that I was p'd off because I was charged for 57 litres which had aperently got pumped into a 45 litre Tank. In my mind no way.

But having done a couple more refills I can confirm that around that amonut was delivered, or there abouts, I normally do around 300 miles on a 37 / 38 litre fill up, works out about 37 to 38 mpg poodling around, so what I actually did was when I got  close to the 300 miles, from the original Fill, I brimed it again and could only get about 16 litres in there, so by adding the 2 fills together and the 2 Milage I got and then dividing them by 2 got me back to where I normaly am, if all that makes sense. ;)

Temperature does affect volume, but whether it would to the tune of 25% :-\
Yea I was thinking along them lines as well, posibility if the Stations Main Storage Tank had just been filled before hand by the Tanker, then in theory the Liquid is cooler, but everyone keeps telling that Full tank and a near empty Tank of LPG should be at the same temperature, still not convinced at that one though.  :-\

On the Veccy C's its normally the Stalk switch that starts to become intermittant, normly a quick wringle or hard button pushes can give a temp but limted fix.

Another on these Cars is once the Cruise detects an issues, (Main ECU) it wont work again untill you do an Ing. Restart, assumi,g the stalked wringle did its job.
Thanks for suggestion. I have rocked the stalk switch vigorously, switched on ignition, no change. Worth a try though.
Yep, worth a try, remember the having to do a Ing. Restart, for the future though or if you do end up changing Clutch / Brake switch.

As far vas I can remeber both the Brake and the clutch switch at as a closed loop ie, short cct, for the Cruise to operate so you could probably bypass and the test again to confirm, check with a meter to confirm first though.  :y
