Put her out of her misery guys. This car is worth £200 tops.

Watch out Tina. Ronnie wants to buy your car and by the time he's finished with you, you'll be paying him :D

what is its age, spec millage?

Whist Omega's are not the most economical cars around... they are far from the worst.

To really reduce your fuel bill you will need to look to a very small car and diesel!  :'(

Thats just Micks fuel costs,  i have an 2.2 sri which gets fed £30 wk

Oh so that is two conversions required

Eh,

The mans LPG mad Tina ;)

No not mad just I can afford to run a V6, on petrol I could not afford to run one

I hear what you're saying Martin, but, believe me, there are worse cars than omega. The wifes ZT(2.5 V6) is horrendous!

Since I do a lot of fuel heavy motoring (commuting down lanes & towing) I would have to get a Diseasel smaller car which would struggle towing and not drive as nice

Maggie aint a CDX,   its an elite   ::)
and i bet ya £299 bargain has rusty bits  ;)

Maggie is a real good example of a 95 model, and high miles maybe, but loads of history
to prove things been replaced etc.

I had an  audi S2,  j reg, touchin 180k,  but history backed it up....  still got £4k when i sold it last year.

Altho i know the meega aint worth that much by far, but just making a point ref: high miles etc  ::)

Ok time to settle this down. :)

Biggest issue is the mileage, it is the thing most people will see as a concern.

In good condition, with good history and plenty of MOT & tax I would honestly say put it in Autotrader for £895 and see what happens (I would expect to sell for around £700 on a good day).

Ebay will be a waste of time for a car like that.

Remember also, there is plenty of space in an Autotrader ad, so use all of it.
Also take plenty of pictures, of everything, including the history laid out, it looks good.

If looking at a cheaper (diesel) car it is difficult to look beyond a Peugeot 306/406 turbo diesel.

I had a 406 turbo diesel. It was a nice car, and COULD be extremely economical when driven carefully. Problem was, it felt a bit gutless unless thrashed, and when thrashed it only did 34mpg. So.. I cut my losses and went back to an Omega auto, much more comfy and much more safe!

Seriously - consider the LPG as a potential option at least..

I think Ronnie McB knows the car - I think he may have done the cambelt ;)

Ronnies price is because he is a businessman, and will sell on.  On that basis, I think its fair.  However, you will get more on Auotrader, probably around £600 ish...

This is the one that done an impression of a red arrow,  and turned up at your house on
the back of a recovery truck. Needing a gearbox, which from your project post
you quoted atleast £450 on top of the initial price, so equals at least £750  :P

Maggie dont leak any oil/fluids and needs nothing  :D  ;)

It has to be said, the Omega Mr. McB has bought for £299 is an absolute bargain!

Yes gearbox is dead but that is an easy fix and will cost rather leass than the figure you quoted... ;)

No rust, superb interior and a sweet engine mean it will make a very handsome profit. :)

Just annoyed he spotted it first!! >:(

I am not so convinced it is....you put 3 litres of extra oil in it.....no wonder it didn't like it (I thought you were only goign to add a litre!)....I suspect most of the fluid came out the breather!

Tina, I would say, pop it in the paper at £850......and sell it well on its merits.

At that price its still cheaper than a 1.2 Corsa of the same age.

LB...Ronnie quoted that figure in his post  ;)

Shame it has to go, but for now Mick is gonna use my car for work & check the fuel economy.
I will use Maggie as i work part-time & half the distance mick has to drive.

Sounds like a good plan.....in reality the economic sense would be to swap the Vectra as it is likely to have a higher residual value....

Did you get the lambda sensor sorted...?
