Omega General Help / Engine cutting out & fault codes
« on: 13 June 2015, 09:54:23 »
Earlier this week the engine just cut out when coming up to a junction, today coming back from my trip to VX in Welling car cut out after pulling away at the lights, and then cut out again a little further upon the road. Started fine again, done the pedal trick, and codes 0170 & 0173 came up Fuel trim malfunction Banks 1 & 2. Now the lambda sensors have been moved on the car (Thanks to Marks DTM), reading through some other threads could this be the MAF sensor?, breathers needing a good clean out, not been done for a while or possibly something else?

Yeah another old chestnut, did not fly through this year, had a few bits needing done a couple of joints on front steering and track rod, new front tyre, took for geometry and they could not do the tracking on the rear, so had to order two rear suspension arms, got them from Eurocarparts, Lemforder (£117) for two just over £57 each but reduced from £89. Had them fitted yesterday and tracking done, all sweet now, but been an expensive one this year :'(, next week change the old Alpine head unit out for a newer Alpine head unit!!

General Discussion Area / Driving in Thailand
« on: 13 May 2014, 01:01:00 »
I am in Thailand at the moment on a needed break following the loss of my sister back in February, anyway have been driving around and in Thailand for over 14 years now, and the Thai drivers and their driving is just really bad, to the point of dangerous. Have listed below main issues with Thai driving.

1. Overtaking on blind corners and bends.
2. Overtaking before the brow of the hill.
3. Not paying attention - nearly crashed into the side of a thai pick up truck last week who did not see the oncoming traffic whilst he was crossing the highway.
4. Night driving is even worse, the use of full beam is all the time even when there is oncoming traffic, and whilst some drivers do switch of full beam when you flash them, others just flash you back and keep their full beam on >:(

What makes some of he above issues even worse is you have to take real care and pay attention when you come up to brows of the ill or corners, just in case some idiot is overtaking. Anyway rant over, this is now public :y

Have driven to Chang Ria first week I was here 12 hour drive there and 12/13 hrs back, hit a section of highway having roadworks for a whole 100km :-X. The speed limit is 55 mph (90km) on main highways and less on town and city roads. Thankfully I missed the earthquake that took out sections of one of the main highways last Monday.

Good points of driving in Thailand is there are some excellent highway roads with excellent scenery, includes beware of elephant signs in some parts ???, and had a 6 hr drive yesterday to Khon Kaen and back to renew my wifes Thai passport (second trip as last friday went there and office was shut >:(), and got caught speeding doing 120km, the charge was 400 thai baht around £8 :y, not the first time caught last year and got charged 200 thai baht :y.

Well 7am in the morning here and getting very warm already go fishing later and then catch up with a few of the expats for some refreshments later :y
