Omega General Help / Re: Front Brake Kit Spare Part Number
« on: 19 August 2023, 02:27:56 »
I could buy front brake kit 1515005, 93175466 by 30 euro but not sure if it fits to my 2001 Y26SE

W0L0VBM6911079201

So many possibilities, ambulance police etc. Air cooled, yes, but seem to be various diameters etc., so expensive, don't want to take a risk...
Opel KAT 1515005 / GM# 93175466 is the kit that contains 296 x 28mm discs and brake pads both correct for any Omega V6. 30 Euro seems a bargain price. Is the kit a genuine GM or is it aftermarket? Where's it coming from?

Omega General Help / Re: 2.2 Head Gasket Material Type

This would be my choice.

That's a Payen DP820 kit. Has a nice cork cam cover gasket. For a 2.0l in a Carlton, probably 8v.

JamesV6CDX asked about a 2.2 which is a 16v and much newer. The Payen head gasket set is DY253. Or try a Victor Reinz 02-33005-05 head gasket set.

I would say it's a composite fibre gasket. It might be that later revisions, post Omega, of the 16v engine used a steel multilayer gasket.

EPC suggests that the original gaskets were GM part 9118313 and this is superseded by 93188114. Both of these gaskets seem to be fibre.

Omega General Help / Re: handbrake pads
« on: 31 July 2023, 22:39:40 »
What "full set" did you buy?

The handbrake shoes are GM# 90541931 which superseded GM# 90509606. All models and ages of Omega B/B2 are the same.

The rear brake pads are GM# 9193476 or GM# 9192126. Genuine GM 9193476 pads include the fitting kit for non-vented rear discs, 9193476 doesn't. The pads themselves are the same vented or not.

Your rear discs are highly likely to be vented. You'll need to salvage and reuse your existing pins and anti-rattle cross springs. Don't install non-vented pins and/or springs.

Be aware that (widely advertised on ebay) GM# 9192125 pads and 3rd party equivalents are Vectra spec pads and not Omega spec pads. They are less meaty and are effectively part worn when installed on an Omega. This might not be an issue with new discs but I wouldn't use them with older worn discs.

Carried over from the Carlton/Omega A and Senator B. So I suggest that you PM Keith ABS and ask if he can help you out? If nobody on the forum has any.

Do they really need renewing as opposed to re-painting?

Aren't the screws securing the plenum only 8Nm?

Omega General Help / Re: HBV Part number ?

The Omega versions were all superseded by the Vectra part 95517483. The only difference is that the Vectra version has a curtain shroud around the vacuum port. Otherwise it's identical as to function and fit. Good for any Omega B or B2.

A genuine GM part has been hard to come by for some years. However the ones here seem to be good quality, at least the last one I bought was. Looked to be a genuine part.
