Cruise Addition to 2000 2.5 CD
« on: 04 March 2020, 17:50:06 »

Hi All - Sorry for the new post on this but I am a bit lost.

I have just acquired a 2000(V) 2.5V6 CD Auto, and I would like to fit it with cruise control if possible.  I have looked for the stalk but some are showing the cruise buttons on the indicator stalk and others on the wiper stalk.

Can someone tell me which is correct and whether I need anything else for the retrofit, such as an ECU, wiring loom or other such gizmo?

I have looked on my "My Naff Code Reader" and it does allow me to programme cruise control to be 'present' whereas now it says 'not present'.
'
All help very gratefully received.

Many thanks

David

It should be plug and play, but...

You'll need the correct stalk for your car as the plugs are different. Being a 2000 2.5, your car could be either Mid Face-lift (grill on bumper) or facelift, (grill on bonnet) and stalk will be different accordingly.

Also, being a 2.5, you will need the controller and cable to connect to the throttle body and possibly also the throttle body itself.

All that sounds complicated, but it should take about an hour to retrofit  ;)

You'll also need a clutch switch if manual.

There's a guide if you CBA to look.

Thanks for the info  - I have been outside and my car has the grill with the Vauxhall V on the bonnet not the bumper.

Given that, will I need the throttle body/Cable/Brake Switch and everything still or will I just need the correct stalk?

Thanks David

I may well have a cruise motor in the garage, Ill have a check later,
youd still need stalk and probably brake switch.

Is your estate or saloon? and does it have a variable wipe wheel, as that changes the stalk too.

It's got a throttle cable, so you need everything as per the first guide ;)

It's a saloon, doesn't have a variable wipe wheel I don't think but will confirm that later.

If you find the cruise motor, let me know what I owe you and how you want paid! Many thanks, David

Pertinent question: where on this earth can you actually use cruise for more than three minutes?

My local motorways are M62 and M1. Does cruise work at 20mph?

I find it pretty useful as my legs don't work.  I also drive distance at night to avoid the traffic, so that helps too

I think I have a cruise unit and throttle cable in the garage, possibly a stalk (no stalk has the wheel on Jimbob, that's the washer stalk ;)).  Not sure if I have the throttle body bracket though.

mine are the busy parts of the M2, M20 and M25(most of the M25 is busy), and I use cruise control most of the time. But then I can also drive those stretches without touching the brakes until the end of an exit slip road.
