Terry Paget
« on: 03 May 2021, 11:57:47 »

I received the following sad new last night:

Hello Dr. Gollum. I,m sorry to tell you that Terry has died after being ill for a couple of months.
The Forum was so important to him. So thanks for being there. There are various Omega parts, but I couldn't tell you what. My email address is xxxx*, if anyone is interested in having a look.
Terry's wife, Tricia Paget

If anyone was determined to try and fix something, it was Terry. An affable chap who would always try to help where he could and a pleasure to have met him at the meets he attended.

I have removed Tricia's e-mail address from this quote to deter bots, but I have forwarded the message to the Admin team should anyone be wish to contact her.

Sad news indeed. I met Terry on several occasions, when he came all the way up from Somerset to the High Wycombe meets. A very polite and interesting gentleman. Rest in peace, Terry.

Really sorry to hear this. If I'm still able to tinker with cars as enthusiastically at his age I'll be a happy man.

Condolences to his family.

Sad news.  :'(   Met Terry a few times at meets and he came across as a real gentleman. He would quietly listen to other people's tales before having a chat himself.
As already mentioned, he was a proper fixer upper, a tinkerer and a determined chap, and considering his age he did very well to still be tinkering with cars as long as he did.  :y
RIP Terry and condolences to the family.  :'(

I was thinking of Terry a couple of weeks back.  One of life's true gentlemen, kind, helpful, interesting, and clearly willing to both share knowledge and absorb new learnings.

Such sad news. I shall miss his posts, and also his attendance at many of the meets I saw him at.

My thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.

Echoing the thoughts of many on here. Never met him but his posts were great, a proper old-school gentleman mechanic. Always seemed to be getting advice for helping other people rather than himsel, which spoke volumes about the man.

RIP. Do we have any plans for sending something to the family from the OOF? Card and flowers?

There have been times over the last couple of years when Ive been working on a car, feeling worn out,  and thought Im getting too old for this and should pack it in. Then Terry posts on here about maintaining the family fleet have come to mind, so I had a word with myself and kept going.
He was quite an inspirational character.

Some of our best How-to threads were started by Terry getting in slightly over his head and asking for advice. He took the resulting banter well, which is a sign of a class act.

RIP

Have been forwarded this article:

Terry features in the middle section, and gives a pretty decent summary of who he was.
