You can go through if you can show the tank is empty  :(

A bit silly with the caravans though  :-/

Is it a propane / butane thing?  different calorific values. Cars run on propane, most caravans carry butane. Don’t know the answer, just wondering, and trying to get 3 stars!!!!!!!!!!  :) :) :)

Nowadays many regular caravanners use propane (red cylinder) all year round .. saves the hassle of changing regulators etc between summer and winter (butane - blue - is worse than useless in winter )

:)

Yep. I know that, I use propane all year round, take it you are a caravaner, apparently brave on this site!
 :) :) :)

Ahhh they are not so bad ... just a bit of banter .. methinks this qualifies me as a 'vanner ... and they didn't excommunicate me when I posted them .. :)

Don't rush to blame folks too much :(

Until I found this forum I was one who thought I had to trust the stealers, ok I now know better, but I wonder how much cash I have wasted over the past 5 years... :(

TC has now paid for itself over 10 times. I have started to enjoy, once again, working on cars. The car is running better than ever and I know the quality of the work.

And all, basically, due to the help and advice in here... or I'd still be spending lots of money elsewhere ...

:)

General Discussion Area / Re: Caravan and Towing Advice Needed
« on: 21 January 2008, 20:01:01 »
okies .. I'll bite ... watches postcount carefully .....

I tow a 2007 Abbey GTS 416 with a max permitted weight of 1600Kgs. I have fitted Alko dampers to this for added stability .. not that it really needed them.

I used to tow with a Ford Granada Scorpio and always thought that would not be bettered as a tow car .. until I first used the Meega.

Heavy, powerful, with excellent brakes, self levelling suspension, good visibility. A large boot and comfortable interior enables 4 adults and all the kit to travel long distances (we go to France with the van every year) in supreme comfort. Stability was very good before the dampers  is now excellent - the dampers help stop tramlining on motorways and the sway you get from HGV/Coaches.

The Cruise Control makes towing on motorways simplicity itself, and the autobox does not "hunt" like many. Kickdown power for hills/overtaking is magnificent.

Only downside is it can get a tad thirsty, cruising at around 65 on a motorway I get around 20 mpg towing, get onto country lanes/town centres and it drops rapidly to around 15. France last year averaged a smidge over 20mpg

http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1187538758 for the really bored .. :)

I would highly recommend the meega as a tow car :)

Ive got to lose weight before I can start exercising.

A common misconception .. exercise does not have to be 40 minutes in a gym etc etc ... I have helped folks at work lose weight and start to get fitter by very simple things...

eg

park in the car park next door, or at the far end of the street and walk the rest, as you get fitter, park further away.

Use the stairs and not the lift, as most of us work on the third floor, only use the ground floor toilets or refreshment area.

A good one is, in conjuction with the parking further away, leave your lunch in the car so you have to walk to get it, then return the container to the car before afternoon work.

Simply put ... try to do an extra 60 minutes walking TOTAL in the day .. thats only 12 five minute walks ... soon adds up  :)

I was just going through the projections for members we though when we started this place back in July 06.

Needless to say, we have exceeded our expectations considerably - we had 100 members in first week, 150 by end of 2nd week.  Approaching 2500 members now, in just over 18months.

Very, very humbling....
A testimony to the quality of the forum :y :y :y
never a truer word has been said

Also a HUGE testimony to the Admins/Moderators, without them the site would be nothing.

Thanks to all involved   :y :y :y :y
