Most young people are now scared of RWD
Not sure thats the case.  I agree, many possibly wouldn't know what to do, but then dont know what to do with FWD either

:)I'm 24...sorry 44 so learnt in RWD's, other than Minis, BMC 11/1300's. Tiff Needell said on telly once that as a youngster he learned to drift in his Nan's Moggie Minor on X plys (who remembers them???) but it taught him the basics. 8-)

I certainly do .. my first motor was a 1952 Morris Minor .... 918cc Side-valve engine, cross plies, semaphore indicators, vacuum wipers ( if it was raining you had to take your foot off the throttle every now and then to get the wipers to sweep !!) .. and I paid £50 for it ... I was earning 2s 6d an hour ... so 400 hours work to buy it...  SWMBO gets £8.00 an hour so in theory she should pay £3200 for a car .. no way .. just shows 2nd hand cars are dirt cheap now if you use the "hours worked" theory !!

:)My first car was a 1965 101 Victor in 2 tone green on a C plate. Bought it when i was 17 yrs old just 'cos an old boy at work was selling it as he'd bought a Daf 33 which he thought would be easier for him but he still asked after the Victor when i saw him.
Funny how leather is a luxury option now, my first ever car was a green RWD Vx with leather...£70 with T&T
Had to change the polarity to fit a cheapo Radio/Cassette which i played ELO & Status Quo on everywhere i went.
You never forget your first car. 8-)

I think it is the only true way to compare costs. Cars a lot more reliable now as well, even a 10 year old car should have pleanty of life in it. remember de-coking every 50 - 60k Mind no complicated electronics, so peraps it is swings and roundabouts.
First post for me tonight, just logged on, is Budgie around??

I'm 25 with a 2.5 V6.

I agree with previous comments though, I was brought up on FWD. Escorts, Astras etc, yet most of my mates who are a few years older than me were brought up on the older Mk2 Escorts which were RWD obviously.
Look at cars in the last 30 years, Ford for example used to have Escort, Sierra, Granada all RWD then came the Mondeo and suddenly Escorts were FWD.

Alot of people younger than me believe FWD is better especially with the hot hatches being FWD but big bhp and FWD don't mix and so now they're looking at 4WD. The only time they want RWD is to go drifting!
This is my first RWD car and I do tend to get the back end out every so often, it looks good and its fun! I do admit I was wary of it when I first got it but then if I wasn't there would be something wrong with me but now I'm getting used to it I would be hard pushed to go back to FWD.

fwd has many advantages..high effeciency and better in snow traction..

I read many comments on the net and common idea is

after 180-200 hp, RWD start to become a must..
