BBC are running a pilot of 4k on Iplayer - don't know how you get it, I was asked if I wanted to participate when I logged my smart tv into iplayer.  I declined, so don't know how I would get it to ask again.

If you can find one near you have a chat with a McTimoney Chiropractor ...

That's interesting thanks Nige!  :y  I think I need my pelvis realigned....  :-\

I take it that a McTimoney Chiropractor is a kind of sub discipline?  ???

I've found a McTimoney Chiropractor about 5 miles away, so I think I'll give them a ring tomorrow.  :y

McTimoney is a lesser qualification that the Doctor of Chiropractic required to call yourself a Chiropractor - it is a shorter training period and does not include full diagnosis and x-ray/imaging interpretation that is part of the main degree course.

I suffer from pain in my lower back, hips and knees.  :(

I was told years ago that I have a twisted pelvis which at the time didn't cause any problems, but as I've got older the pain levels have increased and at times I've had mobility issues which can only get worse.  :-\  My GP's response has been to dish out painkillers and anti inflammatories which have helped, but I don't feel that these are treating the problem just masking the symptoms.  :-\

I'm wondering if manipulation might help and given most of you lot are creaky old geezers, i thought this was the ideal place to ask!  :)

So Chiropractor, Osteopath or Physiotherapist?  ???  TIA!  :y

Physiotherapist ! Absolutely. They are regulated and properly qualified. Some will disagree but the others are on the verge of "Alternative Medicine". Some really are very good but others are just quacks and bullshitters

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-york-north-yorkshire-41634996

A chiropractor is also regulated and properly qualified to Doctorate level.  A physio does a fraction of what a CP does, but a CP will do all that a Physio does.
OP's can also be good, but less regulated and not as qualified.

Kevin -  ;D ;D He has a six month old kid so I am assuming it was "Must escape from baby" time in his household ;)

Actually I was off on my statistics - it took six hours, 32x 1080TIs and another ~50 other, smaller GPUs..

Under "Breaches you were pwned in"  it says "Online Spambot"

I can't see how a spam bot would have got the password though - I don't follow email links unless I absolutely trust them, and even then, I go to the homepage of the site by typing it in on the address bar.

Allen, then further down the page you should see:

Quote
Onliner Spambot (spam list): In August 2017, a spambot by the name of Onliner Spambot was identified by security researcher Benkow moʞuƎq. The malicious software contained a server-based component located on an IP address in the Netherlands which exposed a large number of files containing personal information. In total, there were 711 million unique email addresses, many of which were also accompanied by corresponding passwords. A full write-up on what data was found is in the blog post titled Inside the Massive 711 Million Record Onliner Spambot Dump.

Compromised data: Email addresses, Passwords

A spam Bot didn't get your password, a spam bot was using your password (potentially).  This would be the breach I just noted as needing only 6 hours for a single individual to crack the password hashes - organised criminals would have even more power at their disposal.

Basically .. change your password(s). Everywhere, because Troy (who runs HIBP) isn't going to tell you which password has been compromised. Theoretically I could find out via Justin (the aforementioned individual with time on his hands) but I can't really pimp him out as a service ;)

FWIW, he worked out that ~95% of his Facebook friends all have their details (including password, including mine!) in that dump, so you're not alone.

Thanks Aaron, I will have to change all my passwords then!  what a ball ache. I don't use the same password across multiple sites, so have shit loads as a result.

Which site?

Most give a description like this that clearly say what you should believe has been compromised (taken from one of mine):
Quote
Adobe: In October 2013, 153 million Adobe accounts were breached with each containing an internal ID, username, email, encrypted password and a password hint in plain text. The password cryptography was poorly done and many were quickly resolved back to plain text.

If you were found in a 'paste' then you can't always know, you just have to assume it may contain a password you use. If you don't use the same one everywhere, I wouldn't worry.. if you do, I'd be changing it.

Under "Breaches you were pwned in"  it says "Online Spambot"

I can't see how a spam bot would have got the password though - I don't follow email links unless I absolutely trust them, and even then, I go to the homepage of the site by typing it in on the address bar.

I might be being thick here  ???, the email address I put in showed as pwned on 1 site.

How am I supposed to find out what information has been compromised - the info just looks like a list of what sites have been hacked and looked up.

I've had BT Fibre installed, they had an offer on for Sainsburys Gift card.

Just attempted to claim, this is what the website said:

"Thank you for claiming your Sainsbury's Gift Card. We are checking the details of your claim and once we've confirmed you're eligible, we'll send out your voucher within the next 45 days to the address where your broadband has been installed."

45 Days?  :o :o :o :o :o :o

A check like that should be instant, BT know when I ordered it, where I ordered it, how I ordered it and if it's active. (apparently I have to meet their criteria) - A digital voucher should then be sent, what the frak takes 45 days?  :o

From my experience, they do take that long!  I suspect that they order the cards once a month and send out in bulk, hence 45 days.

yes - but some houses with thick Victorian walls just cannot allow a decent wifi signal to permeate.

Just re-engineered my daughters place to give better wifi signal at front of house - new latest Virgin wifi router installed - but to get signal to opposite end of house we previously had 25 metres of cable externally - now using powerline adaptors and stripped all cable out. Working fine. Wifi signal - no chance.

The wireless routers supplied FOC are rubbish, truely hopeless in my experience.

Even in the MIL's house where the internal walls are built using blocks made from Weldon spoil (e.g. iron ore), the wifi signal works well with a GOOD wireless router and hopeless with a naf Netgear free job.

 :y

Have you got a make/model of a good wireless router?  My HH4 can only be seen in half the house and I'd rather not spend a day ripping floorboards up to run Cat5 round the place.

The plod is clearly the cause of the crash, however the question was who is in the wrong...

Clearly all 3 are in the wrong:

Plod - being patently bloody stupid both in the manner, location and conditions for the stop
Bikes 1 & 2 - speeding and also driving without regard for the conditions.

I'd have loved to see the person who had the idea trying to pitch that!

If it is minor, it will go back on its own - apply cold NOT heat as you want to reduce inflammation.

Best idea is to go to a Chiropractor or if that is not an option a Physio - Physio will massage only, Chiropractor will manipulate when it is safe to do.

If you do any exercise that causes pain - STOP!

HTH

Are you sure? Ive had quite a few slipped disks.....the physio i used to visit used to pop the disk back in, after applying heat to the area and was bloody painful when he did it.

Since then ive used an Osteopath who just massages after applying heat.

Now i use my own method....go see Dr, who will quite happily prescribe 'industrial strength' painkillers (5x the strength, that you can buy over the counter, co-codamol's) and pop the pills until it goes away.

I slipped a disk a week last wednesday and it was pressing on my sciatic nerve, which meant a shooting pain in my left leg and was impossible to press the clutch without much pain and used to limp about when walking. But 4 painkillers a day made it possible to keep working  :)
Today, however i think im on the way to mending, the pain in my leg is less and is nearer the bottom of my leg now (always a good sign  :) ) and i havent taken any painkillers either and have been out in the car without much discomfort  :y

My Docs advise was take the painkillers to move about in less pain, but keep moving about.
The 'old' advice of lying still on your back is now incorrect, as this can lead to DVT's  :y

HTH......but go see your doc and get some painkillers  :)

Yep, I'm sure... my brother is a Chiropractor.  But of course there are some that will do more than the job spec as it were.  My Physio was at great pains to inform me that I could not expect manipulation, that is not how they work.  but I have heard that some do.  Osteopaths are not Doctors, or for that matter regulated, so you are relying on luck that you will get a good and properly trained one.

+1

When I have knackered my body completely and I can no longer do triathlons, only then will I consier taking up golf.

By which time you will realise that you could have been so much better had you started playing before all your joints were shot!  I speak from experience  :'(

I've been a sky customer for the past 15. Years, we currently pay £99 a month, that's the full package, multiroom, phone Internet etc, haven't got any problems but it really hacks me off that its always new  customers that get the goodies.  >:(
How about showing loyal customers a bit of gratitude and giving us a wee bonus every now and then?

Yep...Wherever you go it's the same old shit.

Our 3.1% ISA with Nationwide runs out at the end of October........dropping to a piss poor 1%.

However, new customers are offered 2.5%.

So much for loyalty. >:( >:( >:(

All banks do this...  just go in and ask them to reinstate the bonus (which is how they do it) and they will.  I have to go in once a year to do this.... they now remind me to do it!
