2.0 16v Auto (LPG) - EML on and car in limp mode
« on: 14 August 2012, 18:06:23 »

Hi all,

as per title, EML came on this afternoon without warning, and car has gone into limp mode.

Its got plenty of petrol, a nearly full tank of LPG, the oil level looks fine on the dipstick (despite the intermittent oil leak) and there's plenty of coolant in it.

Is this a main dealer jobbie (at oodles of money) or will a local garage have the 'computer says no' equipment?

Or failing that, anyone local to Nottinghamshire with a diagnostic kit?

Getting fed up of spending money on the car now, tempted to just make it look pretty and get rid   :-\

cheers matey, will do that :)

Another friend has suggested it could the the MAF - the one on my car is a scrapyard one (I assume) as its got blue splodges on it, similar to the ones that our local scrappy put on parts when they sell them.

I've found and Ebay seller (Vaux-World) selling new ones for £28.30 plus P&P - does that sound reasonable?  Dont want to risk a s/h one again if thats the problem.

ta,

Yup, paperclippable.

But given the location of Marks DTM, might be worth getting him to give it the once over - he has the equipment, and more importantly, the knowhow. I would highly recommend him.

just done paperclip test, and its giving the following codes over and over again:

10 - 10 - 3 - 4

can't seem to make sense of that on the fault code listing - engine doesn't sound like its misfiring, its still running *fine* and drives - albeit in limp mode as it wont go much over 2300rpm.

Confused dot com !   ???

I'll wait to hear back from my PM to Mark and see if he's free (and localish) to me.

Sure it`s not 10 - 3 - 4 - 10 (classic cam sensor symptoms, restricted RPM)

it could well be, got abit lost watching the numbers go round and trying to write them down.

So, what sort of job is a cam sensor then.......... ::)

Only buy genuine from VX. Easy job, pretty much the same as the 2.2
