Fault found, part ordered, just need to wait for it to arrive. Although it was egay, so probably the wrong bit will turn up weeks late.
The thought of having to wash up is incompatible with my mindset, and counting the number of plates and cups, and comparing it to likely egay delivery times, things aint looking good.  Hotpoint themselves are actually cheaper than egay, as is often the case, but their standard delivery looked too slow...  ...but on reflection probably still shorter than most egay sellers.

Anyway, due to above, faulty part has been cut and glued, and the machine has passed its self test diag cycle, and is now making a start on the pile of crockery by the sink.

You should have bought a load of paper plates and cups  ;) ;D

Let a very good friend borrow my Merc for his daughters wedding a couple of weeks ago, he noticed my clock was a few minutes fast ( never bothered me) so in the process of correcting it managed to change the language from English to German on the command system ! Easy enough to correct I thought , consulted the manual no joy after 90 minutes so googled the problem eventually got the answer from MB America owners the sat nav must be in the unit so all sorted now, but no mention of that in the command instructions.

If only Merc used the RDS signal like Vauxhall does/did .... for a company that professes to be a premium brand, they don't half have some half arsed ways of thinking

Neither of my Omegas ever managed to automatically set the clock..

Mine did, but you had to have the radio on tuned to a local station, as they transmitted the time info. The likes of R1,R2 etc don't.

GG have made a fund available (doesn't say much tho!) that you either have a share credit to your account as airtime credit or donate it to charity (doesn't say which one!)

Or a Freeview box like I have.
Make sure it runs off the tv aerial and not a dish tho.  :y
Or of course you could buy a new tv with freeview built-in  ;)

RCD's trip because of a circuit leak to earth, not because the plug is getting hot or the appliance is drawing too much current/power.

The RCD basically measures the current in the live (brown) and neutral (blue) wires. These must be equal at all times. If they aren't equal then some electricity is escaping from the wires, which means there is a leak to somewhere else. This leak only needs to be a few milli-amps to trip the RCD (typically 30mA). The fuse won't blow till/unless the leak exceeds the fuse rating - probably 3A or 5A.

If replacing the plug allows you to reset the RCD, then the plug or wire is the likely cause of the fault. Give the FF a good shake, and rattle the motor/compressor. If the RCD trips again then I'd replace the FF - you risk getting an electric shock if you don't.

It has 2 x 13amp fuses, one in the plug which plugs into a blank socket and the other at the fused switch it's connected to.  Neither had blown.  :-\

The fuses are there to limit the amount of power that the unit can consume in the event of a fault. I doubt a FF should have a 13A plug - Things like kettles and toasters yes - they consume a LOT of power. 13A = 3KW continuous. I'd expect a FF to be either 3A or 5A, so suspect that the plug fuse has already been replaced once. Why?

My FF also has a 13amp fuse fitted and hasn't been replaced. FF do only take a small amount of current when the motor is running. Its the start up current of the motor that will be high, hence a 13amp fuse  :y

If in the market, I could be tempted by this:

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201809220753225

I had the 140 spec engine in the CC, that was quite a performer mid range. 170 would be even better, VCDS is excellent as well so no issues troubleshooting

Honestly, I'd go for the newer generation - everything is a great deal better and (subjective, of course) I think they look a lot better, too. Only downside being that the 190 has a tank of pee you have to fill every 7,000 miles (the 150 doesn't).

What's the cost of that?

I suspect by the time the 3.2 has rusted out, the newer generation will have come down in price nicely.  :)

I think I've filled it three times in 30k, for a total cost of about £60 - and that's buying it from the garage forecourt.

I noticed the other day when I was in Hellfrauds (buying sidelight bulbs) Adblue was £11 for 10L  :y

Sounds like a lot of hassle. I'll stick to my "bag'o'canvas". :y

Plus you would have to run air lines to the trailer for the air brakes  ;)

Try A plan for a quote

I used A Plan.... £1650 for the Mondeo.....but that is PH insurance FC  ::)
I could have got it £100 cheaper, but the £1650 company provide a plated car to use if I have a prang, which the cheaper comp didnt  :y

Ive always thought changing the oil and filter is a pain in the arris ….

I dont have a driveway, so car is parked on a slope in the road

It can be a messy job

Then you have to get rid of the old stuff, so a trip to the tip.

My old gas bbq was knackered , leaving it out over winter didn't help  ::)

So ive just been and bought one of these.....

https://www.therange.co.uk/leisure/camping/cooking-and-picnicware/bbq-chef-bunbury-easy-fold-gas-grill#615515

Seems ideal, portable, so ok for taking camping etc.  :y

Its running off a 13Kg gas bottle at the moment, which the old bbq was connected to. But when that runs out i'll get a smaller portable gas bottle for it  :)

So if anyone is looking at gas BBQ's , it would be considering one of these  :y
