Hello all,
It's been a while since we last had an Oxford meet, and after a few discussions it seems we ought to try and organise another one.
It is rather rainy and cold most days, so I think an outdoor meet at Cutteslowe is out of the picture ;D
So, options for an indoor meet would be gladly received.
I had thought of The Heritage Motor Museum. http://www.heritage-motor-centre.co.uk/
Technically it's not Oxford, not even in the correct county...it's about 36 miles from Oxford on the M40 past Banbury on the way to Birmingham.
Prices are £11 - Adult
Group discounts are available if 12 or more people attend.
Are there any other suggestions of indoor car or non car related places we can go?
-
Sounds a great idea that Josh :y
Depending on what date you decide I am interested in coming too. :)
-
Can count me in. excellent location :y
-
If the date and place is right i will be there :y
How you doing Josh :y
-
I will be up for it, dates dependent, even though I've been there recently ;D
No real scope for car repairs - I can see security taking a dim view of that - but its too friggin cold for that anyway.
A reasonable sized canteen IIRC.
-
I haven't been for ages, but they used to have a quad race track there which was great fun!
It is a fantastic museum though :y
-
Count me in :y
-
Yep - I'd be keen Josh. You got a date in mind and we'll go from there.. :y
-
I'd be up for this depending on the date :y
-
Ditto , date dependent, but defo up for it in principle..... not been to the museum, so might be interesting......
just in case, and not promoting this as a choice, or suggesting i'd prefer it, merely in the spirit of offering an option if it seems necessary...... like if people need stuff done,.....
for alternatives, there's always the Kassam stadium for bowling and a chinese,??? and i'd happily volunteer my driveway for some repairs ( bit narrow, but would get 2 omegas on it in a row... and although no roof, it is solid fenced in so at least partially protected from the elements..... bit of tarp and some rope could keep off the rain, i do have a couple of gazebos somewhere, but nothing short of a bleeding miracle would make it "warm"
(i am just round the corner from the Kassam as it were..... so easy to gather here, then move on later to bowlplex / food/ cinema etc.....
Sundays are best for us, as the wife works nights, inc Friday, so sleeps most of saturday.....
and there's loads of parking around here.......
-
We did the Kassam last winter. Not sure if gayboy was banned from Frankie and Bennys :P
It was rather cold, I do remember that ;D
-
you did kassam, and didn't knock on the door?? you meanie.. !! :'(
( unless you did it while i was incapacitated , in which case, fair enuff :-[ )
:y :y :y

:y :y :y
It was last winter or early spring. You'd been offline for a while...
-
hospitalised.... large bits of late november through to march, pneumonia. followed by heart failure. that about covers it.
wasn't a good period in my life. still sad to have missed a meet on my doorstep....
-
Sounds like missing one was well worth it :y
There will be plenty more I'm sure :y
-
count me in !! did suggest gaydon before but it was nice weather then-rain was warmer-must have been our summer ;D Sundays are the best for me. :y
-
I would really like to come to a meet as never been to one. Shouldnt be to much travelling so would be up for it depending on the date. Will keep my eye on this thread. :y
-
im up for kassam if people are going to that :D
-
About time you made the decision joshwyatt, and organised. Just make sure its before mid March ;)
-
Quite right Mr TB,
19th or 26th of this month (February)
Open to debate as to which date is better, I would suspect the 26th as it gives most notice to anyone who may be working. Both dates are Sundays, I'm free either Saturday's or Sunday's but from past experience it seems more people are available on the Sundays.
Let me know which date you'd prefer and I'll let the museum know :y
-
Should be OK for either, And Sat or Sun is OK for me
-
Sorry 19th airport run late afternoon and 26th at work, so if they are the only two dates have a good meet :'(
-
Looks like a non starter for me i'm afraid :'( - Have a good meet guys!
-
Dont care saturdays and sundays are fine for me just need a confirmed date :y
-
That's no good for us then,
Joff / Radar how about the 25th?
I think it'd be better to set a confirmed date for February the 25th - Saturday. Time to be confirmed, but I would imagine an 11am start to be about right :y
-
25th fine with me mate hope its good for everybody? :y
-
25th at Gaydon???
-
Bugger, I was thinking of coming to this one, but Saturdays are out for me :(
-
Sorry Josh 25th and 26th i'm on night shift 7-7 both nights. On another note the Mig is due it's MoT next week :y should be OK as she has had lots of TLC and new parts over the last year and is still under 70K just.
-
Hi Josh - hope your keeping well. I'm afraid the next 3 or 4 weekends are fully booked - sorry.
-
So,lets firm it up. :D :y
-
26th would be good for me :y
-
im good for sundays, work on saturdays so cant do them, and im easy for the 19th or 26th :)
-
We are all still interested so lets get it arranged. ::) :y
-
i'm good either saturday or sunday, either at Gaydon, or the Kassam, or wherever takes people's fancy..... could do kassam + use of my driveway for anyone who needs it on the sunday, but not the saturday, as wifey will be sleeping (she works nights inc `friday night till 8 am saturday) .
we're literally, just round the corner from the kassam, in Sandford on Thames.... and we can get 2 cars in a row on the drive, BUT it is not level, there's a fairly significant slope down to the road...
-
There was talk of this being this weekend... ...if so, I need to know soon :)
-
likewise mate......
-
This doesn't look as though it's happening this weekend so if anyone is near the midlands there is a meet which is going ahead......

-
what a cheeky poacher !!! ;D ;D ;D
I've been called worse ;D
I would still fancy a trip to Gaydon at sometime in the future though :y
-
Shame, would have liked to come along another Oxford Meet, rather than a flying visit in a 1.4 Mini Mig like last time.
Cant do this weekend, been roped into playing Man with Hire Van mode and helping a mate move house.
Post up if its not happening, and if so when.
Chris.

:( :( :(
Can't make this one, Josh...
Son's 40th Birthday....swmbo has grounded me >:( >:(
-
Still nothing for the Oxford meet then? :-\
-
I think joshwyatt's work keeps him busy, and away from home, so trying to pin him down is impossible - he normally returns my calls/texts about 3 or 4 days later ;D
-
Thats quite quick by Josh,s standards.I know someone who has been trying to get hold of him (urgently) for several weeks. ::) ;D
-
Apologies to all, my work does keep me away a lot, but my health hasn't been great recently and unfortunately I collapsed and had a few issues. MRI scan last night, and results hopefully soon will let me know what's going on.
But, I do apologise for not letting people know what's going on, I've got a few OOF'ers to contact :)
In a few days I'll hopefully be back on OOF and let's see if we can organise an Oxford meet this time ::)

-
Wish you a speedy recovery, Josh. :y
-
Crikey mate hope all is ok
-
and unfortunately I collapsed
Thats what happens when you burn it at both ends - this was your warning.
Hope you recover soon :y
-
Sit this one out Josh,no point in stressing out and making things worse, perhaps another Oxford member might want to try and arrange something or just put things on the back burner for the time being :y
-
That's not good Josh .. hope things all work out OK ... take it easy ... perhaps this was a well timed hint .....
-
Josh if you need anything just ask. Mean time put your feet up mate, hope all is well. :-*
-
Josh, your health MUST come first :y
Hope the results of the scan come back ok.
Don't worry about the meet, get yourself right first!
-
All the best for a speedy recovery Josh. :y Take care
-
Josh if you need anything doing give me a call or PM :y
Get yourself better young one. :y
