Title: Day Light Relay Legs
Post by: polilara on 09 February 2021, 14:45:46
Hello, found my old broken day light relay and opened it just for fun. Quite simple, two relays + some passive components. When taking a closer look in back side I see one soldering which is remelted. It has even "carbon black" close to it, coming from Leg No.8 - the bigger relay. Perhaps bad (cold) soldering which has heated too much or bad contact in contact bits creating heat. Contact bits seem to be clean and move easily. Car is OK as new relay worked since I changed it e.g. 5 years ago. Does anybody know where this leg No. eight is going or is the diagram of this relay function available. Just want to learn about it more...

the diagram in haynes shows it as k59 and an 8 pin unit but the relay termination markings are not shown . do you know the wire colour going to pin '8' ?

Sorry I do not. It is located in terrible place and I did not take photos 5 years ago. I tried to find pictures from internet and what I found was exactly same soldering failure in Corsa relay which seemed to be repaired by re-soldering. Perhaps typical failure in these relays?

they were not fitted on uk cars so no one here can go out and check as far as i know.
you need someone with a car such equipped or need to have a look at your relay and find the wire colour.

Does the schematic from post number 10 of this thread (http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=85728.0) help?

The numbers printed on the relay in your first picture are standard relay markings but the Bosch list I looked at doesn't seem to mention terminal '8'. And the Haynes book diagram shown above doesn't show them either
