The old original XJ had presence, class  and style, even if the non sporty versions were a tad pipe & slippers. Still on my bucket list of cars to own.
The more recent versions are just a Mondeo on steroids to me. May be very good cars, but I have zero interest in them .
I think you are thinking of the X Type, which did heavily borrow from its (then) stablemate's parts bin

Nope. Im thinking of the recent shaped Mondeo. Recent Jags appear to be  a bloated version of that in my eyes.

Having test driven both when I was looking to replace the Omega, I can assure you that that's where the similarity ends. ;D

Not sure how they managed to make the Mondeo driving experience so detached and numb.

The Lambda sensor heater will be monitored for resistance by the ECU, so it's probably a wiring fault, not related to the CTS, in my view.

Lambda sensor heaters are normally PTC heaters that stabilise their own temperature, so are only connected to the ECU for monitoring purposes.

First job for me would be to check the resistance of the heater lines between ECU and lambda sensor socket.

The horizontal one? It comes from the white T by way of the rubber tube. What looks to be a spigot left of the OWV is actually one and the same line as the horizontal one.

Yes, looking at it more closely I see what you mean. Might just need the clear section replacing with something more robust, then?

I'm struggling to remember how it's all supposed to go together and haven't got an Omega to go and look at. ;D

Where does the small vacuum hose in the background by the brake lines go? Is it loose?

I might watch MOTD just to see what they do tonight.  :)
It might be less tedious than usual  :D

Certainly, it would be funny as fook watching Google Box next week if the MOTD ratings went Up without any presenters ;D

I'm looking forward to watching some paint dry later, so I'm out.

I suspect that hasn't been plumbed right. There should be 2 separate vacuum feeds from that point. One to the heater controls reservoir and one to the multiram one.

I think one has failed and the two haven just been bridged there with an elbow to stop it leaking. It may even be bypassing the one-way valve, looking at it, which would be potentially unsafe.

Just been listening to Matt LeTissier talking about Lineker on GB News.
He was careful to stay on the right side of the law, re being sued, but he said he knows for a fact that Lineker is nothing like the nice caring saintly like person he makes himself out to be. He has a lot of skeletons in his closet, and must have friends in high places who have helped him keep them there.
Oh how I would love to see the details of that exposed in the media.  :)
You don't get to the top in any field by being 'nice'.
What field's that? Oh, yes. Selling crisps. :y

Dissimilar metal corrosion would be one reason ;)

Copper doesn't corrode though?  ???

It oxidises in air, but I can't see an issue with copper pipe with oil on the inside and coolant on the outside?  :-\

It's not like it's got to last decades or anything like that either.  ;)

It's a long way down the galvanic scale from aluminium, but then again, so is the stainless steel that the original cooler is made from.

It'll be the aluminium that corrodes, hence the importance of coolant changes.

Had about 6" of snow yesterday morning, which made my normal back road out of the village interesting on my commute.

About 1/2 way down the A32 it all disappeared.

Failing that, just cut off the current cooler pipes somewhere convenient, swage the ends and bridge with rubber oil hose and a couple of jubilee clips.

Might be an issue if under the cooler plate in coolant, but probably not an issue if just bridging the ports on the block.

Even then, with decent coolant, you might get away with it.

I would just try and source blanking plugs for where the cooler pipes come out of / go into the block.
Unlikely to need it in this country unless you  plan towing a big caravan all over the place in the middle of summer.

Wouldn't you need to connect them together otherwise you'll starve the engine of oil?

Oil temperature is unlikely to be an issue in the UK. You can always get "tell tale" stickers to apply to the oil filter or sump which record the maximum temperature. Could replace it with a sandwich plate cooler or Laminova if required.

they've been out twice collecting footage from various neighbours with cameras, so admissibility seems to be of limited consideration  :-\
Much like YZ250's comments the other day about nicking people for taking video in the car, then asking for any footage ;D

But a defence barrister would think all their christmas's had come at once...

When the pikeys damaged Mrs. KW's car we had perfectly legal cctv footage and the Police cba to follow it up.  :(

Nice looking 52 plate Nocturno blue saloon, possibly an Elite, parked alongside the River Axe, Seaton, Devon this afternoon.  :y
Wonder if that was Mr Woods old bus... Being a later MV6, it shares thd wheels with the Elite, so a reasonable interpretation  ;)

Mine didn't have a spoiler... and, as of yesterday, has been sorn for two years. :(

At the end of the day you’re asking for trouble if you mix pedestrians with cyclists, a lot of pedestrians walk around talking on mobiles oblivious to anything else,  and I’ve found if you give most cyclists an inch they’ll take a mile,  besides pavements are not wide enough for both in my opinion and should only be used by pedestrians only.

Not forgetting that the pedestrian is God now, according to the new Highway Code of hierarchy vulnerability. So, if a pedestrian wants to jump out in front of a cyclist or dominate the shared pavement, the cyclist will always be in the wrong. Rules is rules.  ;D

Quite right too. It's important that gen Zs aren't distracted from continuous social media access via their mobile phones by mundane things like the need to maintain road safety and an awareness of other people around them. ::)
