Looking at the CCTV of the incident, no way should that pathetically surfaced and narrow pavement be classed as a cycle way as well. Even the local council and police don't know if it was officially designated as one.

Tragic, but why was the old dear cycling on the pavement in the first place?
.

Saw it on our local news last night, she was apparently on a designated cycle path , the woman who was charged with her death raised her arm to push/ assault her as well as yelling at her the cyclist took evasive action and fell into the path of the car.
From the BBC:

"The trial was told that police could not "categorically" state whether the pavement was a shared cycleway"

You may be right in what you say , but we have exactly the same where we live and to be totally honest I would rather see sensible cyclists sharing the pavement than dicing with death with the terribly poor standards of driving I witness every day of the week. Looking at the photograph the woman who was charged it is fairly obvious that she is certainly " not quite right". ( If they look mad they probably are)

Apparently Huntingdon council have confirmed that it was/is a cycle path but are " unable " to confirm whether signage was in place at the time of the incident.

So....they just decided it was, so they could jail the woman who objected to people cycling on the pavement. I do hope there's an appeal.

I suspect it's not just us, Mick, but a whole army of disappointed, white, sixty somethings.
Still, we've got all the money so the younger dogooders can all just fůck off  ;D

They get about four on their specialist subjects and the general knowledge is for five year olds.

Having to shorten the waterpump pully bolts on the Omega engine by a good 10mm, still the new pattern pump looks to have bigger bearings. Then fitted the flywheel, last 2 bolts dont line up. By this time I went sod it it can wait till tomorrow.

At the end of the day you’re asking for trouble if you mix pedestrians with cyclists, a lot of pedestrians walk around talking on mobiles oblivious to anything else,  and I’ve found if you give most cyclists an inch they’ll take a mile,  besides pavements are not wide enough for both in my opinion and should only be used by pedestrians only.

Not forgetting that the pedestrian is God now, according to the new Highway Code of hierarchy vulnerability. So, if a pedestrian wants to jump out in front of a cyclist or dominate the shared pavement, the cyclist will always be in the wrong. Rules is rules.  ;D
