The woman who was grumbling about this onto wireless earlier countered her own argument. 

She started well, by stating that he had previous form for this type of thing and had already been spoken to on previous occasions. She went on to suggest that there should be a three strikes and out system to defend against this behaviour.

She then shot herself in the head by asking, however, why he couldn't hold a personal opinion regardless of whatever the corporation line may be.

They have identity cards in France and other countries they pass through. They cant just disappear into the crowd and work in the black market anywhere near as easily as they can in the UK.

Apparently Macron is going to demand an annual fee from the UK to patrol the beaches in Northern France to deter the boats.

Yep, on an ad hoc basis whenever the Froggies can squeeze some cash from the Home Secretary of the day. 

It seems Macron wants to formalise the arrangement with an annual fee.

Unless we want to outlaw the terminally stupid from speaking publicly, then I suppose he has the right to say what he wants.
I loathe him because he is a fashionably left wing, champagne socialist and a hypocrite like all of his ilk are.
The fact that the BBC pay him £1.3 million a year, of our money to talk about football, is a national disgrace though.
