Lovely car apart from the colour , personally I would never want a black vehicle when there is such a good variety of colours around nowadays.

I believe Opti had an XF-R, not an XJ.

Lovely motor and plenty of toys. These cars are aimed at the Personal Chauffeur use and not Prestige Chauffeur companies that ferry anyone about, or indeed the average Joe off the street. So a wealthy person buys the car and it’s use is solely to chauffeur them about. The thirsty V8 is of no consequence as the owner can afford to run it.  :y
The Lexus 600h falls in to a similar bracket.  :y

Yep...both of mine were XFR. Same 5.0 510 BHP supercharged V8.

It's the fat controller who owns a black XJ....albeit the derv version. :)

A 'dieselesque' low twenties. ::)

High twenties, possibly thirty MPG on a long run because the car had long gears, and was only turning over at 1400 RPM at 70 MPH in 8th gear.

Think about 'performance cars' from years gone by?

A Jensen Interceptor would probably struggle to make a gallon last 10 miles.

Old  Jag XJ6 of XJ12 from the seventies probably 12-13 MPG.

And these old boats only had half the power of my XFR(s).

MY old Triumph 2500S from 1976 could barely break the 20 MPG barrier even when driven gently in overdrive top. :)

I was lucky to get 20mpg out of my 1974 Escort Mexico, mind petrol was around 40 pence a gallon back then.
