Zafira B rear door lock
« on: 18 March 2023, 13:44:17 »

Afternoon all,

The Zafira's (2009 1.6 petrol, if it matters) latest little foible is that the N/S/R door doesn't want to lock. When you push the central locking button there is a slight click from inside the door, but it doesn't lock. Then if you try the handle it triggers the central locking to open all the other doors.

Given there's power getting to the door, I'm assuming this is a similar situation to the omega door locks where they go 'lazy' and just need to be replaced. But I thought I would check with those who have more zafira experience.

Just take the door card off and lube up everything that moves  :P
especially the slide part of the central locking motor
you'll need the door shut to operate the Central locking whilst applying the "lube"

I seem to recall a very common fault on these where the wires snap in the 'protector' between body and door, to the point they did make a repair kit...

the Looms fail in the door shuts on astra zafira and a repair loom kit is available .
but it sounds like there's power to the motor , just dried up grease
if lube doesn't resolve the "lazy" mech , it's worth examining the loom .

Thanks all!

I will probably order up a spare motor from 'tinternet before I strip the door card and go crazy with the lube  >:D.

While I'm not one for throwing money at the car I CBA to strip it more than once   ;D. Thanks for the tip re. The loom, as I say I think I can hear it clicking, but the OH recons my hearing's sh!te, so I could be wrong.

It will be a broken wire in the door loom, I usually just pop the boot off, solder then heatshrink , then wrap well with cloth tape plus same again on the full loom to add some strain relief.

From memory its 'only' a B post trim removal job
