Ok with reference to the later 2.6 and 3.2 Oval Plug ones, are all the Oval ones the same now?, ie, Oval plug fits all?, or are we still doing the need to be the correct Part Number to be the same as the one that came out? Thanks.
If they are different whats the part number range for the later V6's please.

Hmm, well, the one that came out (2003 3.2 Plod) is a Bosch 0261210131, and its been in working fine for the last 5 years (in fact Im not even convinced its faulty) :-\

I know on the 2.5s it's best to fit genuine Vx crank sensors. In June 2011 I replaced a 3 2 failed crank sensor with an e-bay item, and it ain't failed yet. Are the 2.6s and 3.2s less fussy, or was I just lucky?

Thanks. I was aware of this guide, and have 2 2.5s, both demanding Siemens crank sensors, which dealers tell me is the 'usual' crank sensor for the 2.5. Curiously, my V reg 2.5 estate recently suffered a failing crank sensor - hesitant starting was the sympton - a new crank sensor cured the fault; no engine light came on, but a scan with my Chinese code reader came up with fault code 19. The car has run fault free for three months and 2000 miles with the new crank sensor, so all is well.

not all cheap crank sensors fail. But it is a bit of a gamble, and the cost saving isn't enough to take the chance. Buying genuine is the best way of preventing a lot of frustration. This applies to ALL crank sensors, not just Omega ones. It's one of the few cases where buying genuine is worthwhile advice, and not just internet self-perpetuating 'dangle berries'.

This is my views as well.
As a model specific forum, our collective experience and knowledge allows us to suggest what really needs to be genuine, what is better as pattern, or when pattern may be slightly better but isn't cost effective.

Thanks All, any answer on the Highlighted ?, remember only talking about V6, 2.6 / 3.2 here and not the early V6's. :-\

2.6/3.2 use the same sensor :y
Which is the same as the later 3.0l. Which is the cheaper of the 2, around £40 + VAT on tradeclub last time I bought one.
