Windscreen Wipers
« on: 06 October 2010, 08:13:53 »

My drivers side (typically) wiper went a bit weird this morning, almost seems like the splines have worn off, is that a known problem?
Haven't got a 13mm socket with me so can't have a look whilst at work, passenger side working perfectly well still

Unlikely that the splines have worn off as I seem to remember that they are on the shaft rather than the arm and are made of a harder material. It may be that the nut just needs pinching up, if it will not do this because too much of the tapered hole in the arm has been worn away a temp fix can be done by lining the hole with a strip of folded over aluminium foil several layers thick or cut a piece from an aluminium coke can then tighten up the nut so that the splines cut into the temp fix material. With all of this lovely rain I hope you get it sorted.  :y
