If you use chevy 350-4 bolt mains(6.7)
use edelbrock heads,Rhoads lifters an roller rockers-top it off with 650 cfm double pumper carb on a Edelbrock performer manifold will give you anough power-With a V8 its not bhp you realy worry about its the torque - you can pull high gears.
My rover got 230bhp But the torque produced punches harder than my miggie- :y

BEAT THAT!!! :-[ parked my miggie at work and when reversed ripped bumper loose >:( Serves me right for lowering miggie :D So after that I parked like a learner-leaving front well away from border stones :)

I worked at MINI Oxford(thats what BMW call it) The car is VERY overrated Quality is not exactly up there with HONDA I Know this because I spent many years supplying parts to HONDA.
Personally would steer clear of the MINI However Original Mini is a style icon

Yeh v6 better-more power more expense more fuel Just need bigger wallet/bank account- Any miggie is good for comfort space and looks :y

I know about shift work(nurse) And dont worry too much about dirt mate I took mine to oxford meet No4 dirty-this time of year you clean it then it rains and ya back to start again :-?

first engine I built was an early 3.5 to 3.9 BLEW rod out of side and that was racing an E-type up the M40!! Now I can out drag a ferrari In fact did that on the way back from Gaydon's spring classic!! Don't think he liked that,my mrs was laughin her socks off!!! ;D

no m8 used 3.9 block chevy pistons an pontiac rods
also put girdle on bottom end-like the miggy got
ITS fun in a straight line but a real boat on corners still its only fun-right! ;D
now its got weathered(leave it outside) it looks original

I cut the engine bay about to fit the v8 it was a 2 litre 4pot
Rover did the same with the experimental v8 buick in 1965(c) reg cars(3 were made).
Was thinking similar route with my miggy But will keep it as it is. :y

I did say 5 litre V8 Basically bored an stroked rover!!!
BUT still prefer the comfort,quiet an smooth drive of my miggy
would get rid of the other cars an wife etc THAN get rid of my miggy!!!!! :y :y
