Hi LD, according to the stag site it is the correct version and by driver do you mean the driver for the usb lead? thanks

Yes, driver for lead.

Version varies dependent on whether it is a 300, 300 Plus or 300 Premium. Also on what Firmware is on it already.

Shame. I would guess that you need a different version of the software and it will connect ok.

If you look in Device Manager on the PC, the LPG cable should appear as a COM port under "Ports (COM & LPT)" when it is connected. If that doesn't happen, then the device driver has a problem.

Once you get that far, the LPG software should find the ECU automatically, but you can set the COM port number in the software to force it to use the correct port.

If it still doesn't find the ECU, then I'd suggest that the software is the wrong version for the firmware on the ECU.

The earliest Stag 300s were never updated beyond version 1.14.1.0 and will communicate with nothing else. This version is in a separate section of the download page: http://www.ac.com.pl/en/doc/346/instructions-software.
