Has anybody fitted these reversing sensors before?bought a set several months ago A01580 as read they were about as good as was made...followed the instructions to the letter..looked really neat and all wired up as diagram...connected 4 sensors to control unit..plugged in buzzer unit and connected red wire to reversing light wire on car (black/white)and final wire to a good earth so fingers crossed all would work....put car into revers ang got 2 short beeps and that was it..every time I put car into reverse get same 2 beeps and nothing else despite moving objects across bumper sensors and moving back and forward close to wall...reading further the slightly misleading instructions it shows a blue wire called loop which looks like it should be cut..so did cut it and when engaged revers got a continuos beep with nothing within metres of car so joined it back again..have checked all leads and nothing is unplugged..assume power is getting into unit as does beep but only when reverse is engaged...so if anyone has used or fitted this system and can advise would be gratefull as very pleased with the general appearance of the sensors in bumper just would be nice if I could get it to work.

Have you painted them and put too much paint on them?

Not painted as they look fine in their original black against the velvet green rear skirt..just be good to get them to work?

You'd havebeen OK with the OE factory fit reverse aids. One on each door & one in the middle of the windscreen.

have you got a set of instructions with it to show you the wire uses ?
i seem to remember the blue loop
i will have alook for a diagram on the cobra website for you

i cant get on it at the moment.
seems to have trouble with my password.
anyway i just remembered that you use the blue wire to set it up.
im sure you had to reverse up to a wall. then cut the blue wire
to set it up
i will check back with cobra if i cant find a book somewhere.
last fitted one of those about 5 years ago.

Thanks for help...i fitted it as the instructions told me..rear wire to positive feed on car reversing light which was black/white...black wire on kit to earth ..left the blue loop intact..reversed car to 50cms from wall.when put in revers got 2 beeps then waited 100 seconds,but nothing else happened???so cut blue wire and beeps are constant..so re joined blue wire and back to square 1..seems such a simple wire up that must assume fault with black box..just a bit puzzled what this blue wire is for and if and when it needs cutting as instructions seem to say so,but they are just pictures with smiles and crosses on.
Think I will return the control box to supplier and ask for replacement as that seems to be the fault..just need to know about this blue wire for when new box comes back.

it sounds like the box itself is at fault or one of the wires might have a cut in the wire.

You mean that the people at Cobra arnt capable of including the speed of sound in air in thier internal calcs and require you to calibrate it....thats a bit naff.

I don't suppose the wire loop was a connection to a towbar plug to disable it when towing?

Just a thought.

Well the control box has gone back to supplier as i am now sure it is faulty..will keep you posted on results when replacement arrives and the outcome of the looped blue wire...unless somebody advises me before hand ?

shame i didnt read this sooner could have come and looked at it for you or you could have brought it to the shop and i would have taken a peek .

sounds like it may have been nackered, however it does also sound like that calibration did not complete correctly, never mind these things happen, at least the supplier took it back after you cut the blue wire.

good thing you didnt cut the red, may have set something off
