Post by: Lizzie Zoom on 14 January 2019, 19:25:52

Just advisories to clean the brake pipes and front springs then grease them up! ;)

Nice one, Lizzie. I think yours is probably one of the best ones left.  :y

Thanks!  The guys at the garage again commented that it was a "lovely example", so it certainly gives me the encouragement to continuing investing pouring money into her!! ::) ;D ;)

If I can be bothered to sort mine out it might have a slim chance of passing its next MOT.

Yes, our Omegas certainly need constant maintenance to pass the MOT's easily ::) :D ;)

From what I’ve seen of your omega I am not in the least surprised. It sure is a fine example.
I do not understand why people worry over mot time. A properly looked after and maintained car will always pass . Everything is repairable and when kept up to 100% there can be no surprises.
Yours will surely live on for many years to come !

Congratulations, Lizzie!

It's interesting how a few Omegas get past 18 years old without terminal rust, but the rest don't. I don't see many Senators these days, I guess they have gone the same way.

Nice one.  :y
Which reminds me, my old 190 will need an MOT in a few weeks and I know it needs a few things done. Better get on it before the real winter weather gets here.

Thanks for all your kind comments about my car :-* :-* :y

Yes, mine is one of the last to come off the production line, and now with just 75k on the clock in theory it should last for some time to come. BUT, I have spent a great deal of time and money to keep her in a good condition and even I wonder how much longer I will want to keep a 15 year old car going. A great car, yes, but as others often mention the bodywork will become harder to maintain due to the inherent flaws these Omega's have, just like the dear old Senators before.

On balance though I will, at the moment, believe that the money I have spent on this example of a car, without the normal depreciation of others, is no more than "very reasonable" as I enter the sixth year of ownership of my current model. To have such a great car to travel in, that is always a pleasure, covers well the 'investment'.

Time will tell though what I do next.  Perhaps I will donate her to Beaullieu Motor Museum! ;D ;D  ;) ;)

Great news Lizzie but expected when owned by someone who looks after it properly, they are great cars.

It's amazing what a feminine smile and a nice bit of cleavage can achieve. ;)

I think this applies more to 'ugly mares' and women who clearly don't know one end of a car from the other........about 90%

I'm sure Lizzie falls in the other 10%. :)

Well yes, I certainly make sure the same garages I have used for years know me well and I really think want to keep me happy as much as possible, most of the time!! ;D ;D

Realistically though they know I know my way around the motor car and take pride in the car of the time, with it always being presented to them in a very clean condition.  I think that may help, as much as they know they can find themselves doing some work on it every so often so the condition at the MOT can be laid at their door as well :o :D ;)

Lizzie you think exactly along the same lines as I do , always worth building good relationships with the garage & their staff.

Reminds me, the Battlebus needs an MOT soon. Once I can remember who I gave it to.

Well done on the pass

Yep, I know all the key staff in the garages I use by their first names; always have. They then take ownership of your case whenever they should :D :y

It is one of those things you learn in business management.  If things do go wrong I always know who to approach in person! ;)
