General Discussion Area / Help with a shopping list please
« on: 02 April 2007, 14:30:23 »
Had my mechanic mate service the MV6, he gave me a shopping list :

Could someone provide part no's and prices please

Sump bung - mine nearly knackered apparently
diff seal - going apparently
Front disks & pads kit & the sensors - Advisory from last mot, still need doing
When he went to do the fuel filter, he stopped as he thinks a seal has gone, are there any bits here he can replace?  He didnt want to remove the old one to find he couldnt fit the new?

When it goes back he commented my headlights are pointing too low so is going to adjust those, and have another look for the mysterious coolant leak, still getting though a litre every few days.  Its not the HBV that is done and dry.

If any more info needed, I am seeing him tonight as te CDX is getting a service / breather clean and MOT.

Also as vxon still not issueing trade cards, its probably worth me joining another club to save on that lot, who is the quickest these days?

Cheers

How about a forum, spilt into North West, North East etc etc etc

We can then post in 'local' garages we have had good / bad experiences with.
Where can do tech2 work reasonably etc.

General Discussion Area / Cheapo Tech2 Finally arrived
« on: 06 February 2007, 12:01:28 »
After just over a month, I've had a phonecall from the Mrs saying 'A Chinese parcel has arrived'
Looks like Chinese customs have had it.

Looking forward to having a play

has anyone tried the English software from www.talktomycar.co.uk with it?
Is it the same? notice it has English / Hungarian option so looks promising.

No faults to use it on yet, but with 2 meega's in the house, thought it may well be worth getting in advance, especially with a month's delivery time!  At under £30 it will pay for itself if I use it once.
Will plug it in once I've charged up the old laptop and see if it talks to either / both.

General Discussion Area / Tyres again.....Sorry
« on: 29 January 2007, 12:34:29 »
Right, the MV6 is booked in for 4 new continental's on wednesday, Thanks for the advice.

Had the CDX Full geometry'd today, so much better!
Also had em check and (was going to be reseal the tyres) as the all lose pressure.

However

3 out the 4 had multiple punctures, 2 unrepairable, so its new tyres again (8 in a week is gonna kill me)

So recommendations and stay aways for a 2.2 Saloon please (16")

Looking at getting 4 of these on the MV6 next week, unbeleiveably the best quote I can find is kwik-fit at £441 (for 235 45 17 Y's).

Anyone had any good / bad experience of these before I shell out?

Esp interested in tramlining, which my current suffer badly.

The Mrs is constantly fed up with having no rear wiper
We both hate poor visability in any direction.

Rainx sounds like it may be the answer.

Anyone tried it, or got any better ideas?

General Discussion Area / New stress management technique
« on: 20 December 2006, 10:38:26 »
Here's an eight-step stress management technique recommended in the latest

ibm psychological newsletter. Apparently, it works.

1. Picture yourself near a stream.

2. Birds are softly chirping in the cool mountain air.

3. No one but you knows your secret place.

4. You are in total seclusion from the hectic world.

5. The soothing sound of a gentle waterfall fills the air with a cascade

of serenity.

6. The water is crystal clear.

7. You can easily make out the face of the person you're holding

underwater.

8. See? You're smiling already.

General Discussion Area / Boot Protectors
« on: 02 December 2006, 09:08:44 »
Anyone tried the fitted boot protectors off ebay?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vauxhall-Omega-Estate-94-01-BOOT-MAT-LINER-R101112_W0QQitemZ200052254321QQihZ010QQcategoryZ10404QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Look a bit nicer than the cannon cut to fit ones.

Are they any good?

I'm tempted for £30, keeping muddy buggies off the carpet etc.

Cheers

General Discussion Area / Alternative Tyre Thread
« on: 13 December 2006, 09:18:11 »
Both mine and the mrs are up for new rubber soon.

Now I'm not going to ask which are the best, everyone has a favourite, but...

Which tyres would you NOT buy again?

I like 'best of both world' myself, good wet and dry grip, that dont wear down too fast.

When you click on the cars picture to return home,
You get redirected to the IP address rather than webaddress, thus logging you out.

Can the redirect be amended back how it was?

6 DAYS!

Can anyone beat that?

The Mrs has just got a new phone, now she wants a bluetooth headset to go with it.
Anyone had any good / bad experiences with them.
Makes models to recommend or not?
May also look at the car kit route.

As the title really,
What is the easiest was of getting a trade card
Which is the cheapest club to join? Is the dark side (or other clubs) a 1 off fee, or yearly subscription?
