General Discussion Area / One for our Sky Man
« on: 23 October 2012, 12:51:32 »
So last night i'm watching "Bond" on Sky HD and have just finished watching Quantum. In the break there was a  trailer, longer than a normal trailer for Casion Royale and at the end the final screen just read "Casino Royale" Novermber 17

Now i know the film was released on the same date back on '06 so are Sky doing something big again?

Another few days of watching back to back Bond and i'm ready for Skyfall at the weekend

General Discussion Area / Home Hub info Required
« on: 24 January 2012, 16:43:28 »
Hi Guys

Quick question, is anyone using the latest version of BT's home hub. If so i'd like to know if it has both USB & Ethernet connections.

Your orginal (white) hub has packed in but i had a new next gen (black) hub but this has no USB connection on the back and my tower until is missing the driver for the ethernet.

Bt have said that they would send us a new (white) hub but are out of stock so will send us the very latest gen 3 hub but i don't know if this has USB connection, if i doesn't then i need to get a USB>Ethernet adaptor which is going to mean another day or so off line

Cheers in advance

General Car Chat / Another Years Ticket
« on: 29 December 2011, 17:52:31 »
MOT passed yesterday with no advices. Mind you i got away lightly as the handbrake had packed up and i kwew from last year the back plates were on they way out.

So armed with all new back plates. shoes , fitting kit i stripped it all down to find everything was still where it should be and the repair from last year was still holding.

I fitted the shoes anyway as i had them in stock and the ones on the car were knackered and popped in a set of new pads as well.

Turns out the Hand Brake Cable had sized so replaced that and popped a new set of pads in the front as well. Four new boots fitted and adjusted the camber and toe and she was ready .

I do need to get the suspension replaced but having four cars in the workshop for re-builds, conversions and restoration time is a bit tight

I might get to wash it next year if i'm lucky

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / CDR500
« on: 11 October 2010, 17:37:38 »
Ok bit of an odd one this. My car has at the moment a CDR500 Delco head unit which was working ok until the CD packed up and after speaking to dave @ DND it seemed a good second hand unit would be better but make sure is a VDO version as they are better .

Put up a wanted add and AndyB came to the rescue with a CDR500 VDO unit from an Astra, price agreed and i collected from him while i was in Bolton.

Got home late so had a go at fitting the following day.
Plugged in and coded but couldn't get anything to come up on the dispaly although the code did display. Couldn't get any sort of voloum and what i could get was on full bass and only from the N/S/F Speaker. Tried all the controls but nothing happened.

Took the unit out and re-tried with the same outcome and couldn't get any radio stations on auto search either.

Out it came again and check the wiring diagram on both units and they are the same.

Spoke to Andy and have sent the radio back to him and he has tried it back in an Astra and it all works as it should.

Ok so the Declo & VDO units are different between the Astra and Omega but when doing a search on EPC all CDR500 units go to one part number and fit all the model range.

Now out of ideas as to why it works in AndyB's Astra and not in the Omega

Any ideas?

Cheers
