General Car Chat / Re: Allegro
« on: 17 June 2016, 21:23:49 »
Its chassis, running gear and engine are from a ZR1 'vette and by Christ does the ground shake when its running. The only thing of the Allegro left is the body, the rest of the car, floor, tunnel, bulk heads, inner wings etc have all been hand built.

I've seen his next project which is going to be just as good but that's all i'm saying

Car Parts, bits For Sale & Wanted / Wiper Stalk
« on: 07 June 2016, 19:20:09 »
Hi Guys

Trying to find a Wiper Stalk for a pre-facelift Estate that has the info display buttons on the end. These are the same as the Vectra B and one of the buttons is missing from mine, pm me if you have anything kicking around

Cheers

Talbot Alpine, the gear stick was like stirring soup, it always over heated so had to drive everywhere with the heater on and carry a couple of gallons of water in the boot and a dodgy alternator bracket that would slack off just enough to stop charging but nit enough to squeal.

Went everywhere in that old banger!

Sorry for the hijack but speaking of Haynes they are now doing or are about to launch Autodata style manuals for the trade!!

Omega General Help / Re: Omega 2.5 timing belt kits
« on: 02 May 2016, 20:08:32 »
Well said TB. From personal experience don't use a pattern pump on the 2.2. I fitted two pattern pumps (don't say a word!) to our Astra and both failed, the second was fitted as a warranty for the first. In the end went OE + New belt kit and not had a problem since

If your looking for cheaper genuine parts and can get the correct part number then either try Genuine Parts Search or Car Parts Connections. These sites list only dealer Ob stk.

All I would say is these sites are never updated, also please remember that if you give a dealer a part number and its wrong don't offended if he won't take the part back. Haven't got a problem with people doing this but please get the dealer to check your number.
Oh, and yes GM are always on the lookout for sites like this who breach copy write laws

If it is a Meriva A then contact your dealer as Vauxhall might change it under PGT scheme, you might need FSH ETC though

Handed out one today in the workshop so I had a quick look. They are Delphi and the one that came off the car had a blue'ish "ok" stamp on it, the new one didn't have the stamp, hope that helps

We have a guy in our town who has taken it on himself to clear the rubbish out of the local rive about twice a week, lets just say most of the cans have names on them that I cannot pronounce.

He post on the local forum a couple of days ago that he collect sixty pieces of rubbish from mile stretch of the river.
