Title: Interesting facts re the election
Post by: STEMO on 30 October 2019, 12:36:38
A couple of interesting facts on the beeb last night. Jo Swindon is MP for East Dumbartonshire and, despite the recent alliance in parliament with the SNP, they will do their utmost to unseat her. That would be really funny. :)
Also, during the last three general elections, 49% of people have voted for different parties. It appears folk are actually voting on policy, rather than party loyalty. (This does not apply to places like Barnsley, of course, where the proverbial donkey wearing red rosette would get in).

The Lib Dems have had some strange leaders over the years. Paddy Pantsdown was a strange cove and he was followed by the ginger oddball with a side parting which looked as though it had been put there by his mother (enough to drive him to drink)

Now they are under the control of 'a slip of a girl' who appears out of her depth. :)

Reminds me of Ken Clarke's observations on Labour Fiscal policy.

........along the lines of "The Dolly Parton school of economics which conjures up a fantastic figure with no visible means of support"  ;) :)

He's been suspended from the house for six months but, astonishingly, hasn't had the whip withdrawn. He should be ashamed to stand and the voters should be ashamed to elect him.

A sensible decision (although I now have to write "non of the above"), but he should still have stood in a seat himself. He is going to be constantly taunted about not doing so.

Trie enough, and he knows his political life is probablyabout to come to an end, so doesnt want to give up his current day job on the off chance of winning a seat.
Its more honourable than accepting the peerage he was apparently offered last month, if he would retire to the red benches and shut up.

He has only ever done what he does because hes passionate about us leaving the EU. Once that's done he can possibly keep his LBC show going, or maybe go back into business. Who knows ?
A future career in talking, in some way or other, is my best guess. Hes good at talking. Might even accept a peerage, if offered, once Brexit is done. Maybe big bucks on the U.S. lecture circuit ?

Never had a candidate knock on my door. Im hoping Cleverly does this time. I have a few things to say to him. In fact nexttime I see him walking his dog I might pull over and have a chat.

I'm in two minds about Farage's decision to stand down half of his candidates.  :-\

Obviously anything that leads to the forces of remain getting a kicking at the election is a good thing!  :y  But consider this...

Had the Tories done a good job of BREXIT from 2016, not been utterly useless and spineless in the negotiations and taken us out of the EU properly on 29th March, then the Brexit Party would not exist!

Given that the Tories have made an utter Horlicks of it and the prospect under them is more of the same, I think they've had a bloody cheek to demand that Farage stand his troops down, and to be honest I think he's been lent on... big time..... by some rather unpleasant types!  :-X

I think he is simply being realistic and pragmatic. He tried to corner the Tories into an official pact. When they didn't play ball he had to think again.
In other news, Theresa May has just signed up with an agency which organises events for inspirational speakers ! Whoever signed her up must be facing the sack pretty soon I should think.

Corbyn has today tried to demonstrate how heartless the Tories are by not caring about the poor Labour voting folk up north who have been hit hard by floods in recent days. He has demanded they activate the Bellwin scheme.

I think Corbyn and Co are getting quite desperate, even at this early stage. Conference passed a motion condemning India over it's role in Kashmir. Consequently,  Hindis have been saying that they are going to vote conservative. You've never seen such a hasty reversal in Labour policy.  ;D

Indeed it was Mr Ronnie.......and it wasn't an unusual name for a black cat or black dog. My mother used to talk with great affection about her beautiful 'nigger brown' coat.

Nigger brown was an actual colour.

Labour are now promising free broadband for all and are going to make big tech companies pay for it. The old trick of buying votes with other peoples money.
Don't suppose they have considered that the tech companies will just move out of the UK and lots of people will lose their jobs.
Anyone who votes for a bunch of terrorist supporting Marxists, just to get free broadband shouldn't be allowed to vote.

Regardless it is a vote winner.

I wish I could have internet. ( my expensive satellite is currently broken). Internet is a staple for just about everyone save the elderly who are probably lifetime Tory voters anyway.

I winder what the Lib Dems will respond with. As an impartial outsider, I still think they will make huge inroads and upset form.

I'm undecided who the vote for.

We have a Tory buffoon who seems to have a shaky grasp on reality.

We have Trotsky who will take Britain back to the bad old days of the 1970's

We have a slip of a girl (albeit with a good rack)  who should spend more time attending to the needs of her husband.

Is there anybody else I can vote for? :-\

This happened (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ANE9XksAbb8) yesterday and is just gold!  ;D
You'd think one of his lackeys would straighten his glasses for him before he goes on camera. It's hard to take him seriously when he's doing an Eric Morcambe.

I have the choice of the new Tory who is going round assuring everyone that he disagreed with Oliver Letwin our former MP and is all for BREXIT, a Green, a LimpDumb and a Marxist.  :-\

Since Screaming Lord Such died the Monster Raving Loony Party is a shadow of it's former self, which is a shame as they would have got my vote.  :y

There's speculation that's he's had a stroke, which may or may not be true, but I did think the other day that he was looking old and tired.  :-\

If he doesn't last the course, perhaps Len McCluskey will step in. He'd be a bit less lefty.  ;D

They'd have to give Comrade Len a peerage and he could be Lord McCluskey of Redditch!  ;D
