Hi, looking for a newly rebuilt A/C compressor for my 3.0V6.

Mine leaks and I would rather buy a rebuilt OEM than an ebay one.

Omega General Help / V6 Engine "whine" help

3.0 V6 started a constant whine when running.  The sound only changes with engine speed (gets louder as engine rev's higher). Turning the wheel or turning on accessories and putting more load on alternator does not change the sound so I think I can rule out alternator and p/s pump.

Sounds like it is coming from the right side of the engine (my passenger side, your driver's side), sounds like the area of the tensioner pulley (replaced 12k miles ago), but I am hoping that it's not coming from behind the timing cover or the waterpump.  Hard to tell. Timing kit and w/p all done at 12k miles ago as well.

I took a quick video of the engine running, and the sound is pretty distinct so I am wondering if anyone has heard a similar noise and might know what the culprit could be? Any suggestions? Thanks

Car Parts, bits For Sale & Wanted / Cam Covers Wanted - 3.0L V6

I need a set of cam covers for my 3.0L v6, and would need them shipped to the U.S. if anyone is interested in helping me out!! Would pay with paypal.

I have a 98 Catera, so my engine is pre-DBW, with a regular coil pack (non-coil over plug); a pre-facelift. One of my cam covers is damaged on one edge and brittle so I suspect the other isn't far off..

Please let me know if anyone can help, pictures would be appreciated!

Omega General Help / Auxiliary water pump/coolant hose diagram/part #'s?

I have searched but cannot find what I am looking for...

I need a diagram, hopefully with part numbers, that has the coolant hoses associated with the auxiliary water pump that is mounted on the radiator.  One of the small hoses from the radiator is leaking and I want to make sure I buy the right ones.

Anyone know of a diagram out there?

Omega General Help / Will Opel Motorsport's X30XE chip work in Catera ECU?

Omega General Help / Catera suspension upgrade questions

I have some questions about upgrade options for my car's suspension, to give it better handling.

I was wondering if the Omega suspension components are interchangeable with the Catera?  I have already replaced the rear shocks with Bilstein Sport's, but also want to replace the front struts with something of similar performance and it is difficult to find that here.

I am wanting to replace the springs, and may just go with Eibach's for the GTO unless there is another option that is better.

Also, I am wondering if the suspension bushings are the same, I assume they are.  I already have Moog HD lower front bushings to replace my torn ones, but need the front lower rear busing and such. I will have a spare set of front lower control arms to work with for a quick swap, since this is my DD.

Newbie Welcome Area / Cadillac Catera owner in the U.S.

Hello Omega owners!

I am the owner of a 98 cadillac catera sport, black with black leather.

I have always liked the look of the catera, but did not know too much about the problems they had in the U.S. until after I bought mine with 90k on it.  Runs great, love the car. It leaks oil right now pretty well from the rear main seal and oil pan it looks like. Transmission shifts smoothly.

So far, I have replaced the radiator, timing belt & waterpump (just for precaution), cam cover gaskets, the third brake light led, rear view mirror, and also replaced the rear shocks with Bilstein sports which improved the ride tremendously! But also because one rear shock was blown and the leveling system was inoperable.  Also replaced the front brakes and fixed a few shotty repairs by previous owners..

Currently, I am in the process of replacing the front lower control arm bushings.  The car is a daily driver so I am starting with a set of junkyard control arms that I am rebuilding so I can just swap them out and have it aligned.

I am curious about some of the compatibilities between the omega and the catera, especially the suspension.  The aftermarket availabilities for the catera are very limited.
I am wanting to upgrade the front struts, as well as all 4 springs.  Possibly sway bars if I can source them.  I have heard that the springs for a Pontiac GTO fit, but am curious about other options, possibly in the omega world.

Does anyone have any input on my options?
