Well I had a few random error messages on the Shaguar so I called Jaguar Assistance who without even quibbling asked me for my address and phone number.  2 Hours later towing company came and picked up Jag to take to stealers.  Then got a call Hire car (complementary) on its way, sorry for it not being there before taking Jag away, no problem I say chat up the nice french lady in French over the phone she's loving it.  Once software updated it will be sent back to me..... I wonder if it will be valeted?

You cant beat that  :y

General Discussion Area / How much should I sell her for
« on: 22 October 2008, 20:08:26 »
Hi all,

As I am sure I have bored you to death about it so much you are aware that I am changing cars soon and getting rid of the meega  :'(

Its a P reg with 155K, cambelt done at 130K, new wishbones, new drop links, oil cooler leak repaired (will be anyways) and gearbox replaced (also will be done soon to get rid of that slipping out of gear problem)  Air con needs regassing, body work ok considering year a bit of rust in the rear arches and a scratch on the boot.  The rest is in good enough nick that a good old polish wont sort out.  New headlights and 12 months BFG MOT.  Breathers cleaned and a fresh service to boot.  Its all fully registered on the BFG net which is a pig to do so thats one less thing to worry about for the next owner.

I have an idea of what its worth but what does everyone on here think?

General Discussion Area / rather civvie C@#ts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
« on: 20 October 2008, 16:07:37 »
Of course I dont mean you guys most of whom work very hard and have pride in your work, I mean some of those worthless jobsworth MOD civilians who couldent pull their finger out of a pot of boiling water let alone their own @rse!

The registration process for vehicles here reside on a different system to that of the DVLA even though they have UK number plates (makes for a great explaination when back in the UK and you pass a copper ANPR)  It is run by a bunch of civil servants for the military.

I sent the paperwork 10 days ago and was told that it would take 7-10 to be back.  So of course I m sat here hardly sleeping in anticipation of getting hold of my dream car, I go to the local registration office.  Here is the conversation:

Me: Hello are my plates in?
Them: Oh had no post in today yet, try again later.
Me: Ok, I'll be back after lunch.

Me: Any luck?
Them: Still nothing.
Me: Have you checked why there is no post?  I know there was a huge delivery for our regiment today.
Them: Oh no they'll bring it when they bring it.
*foot starts tapping*
Them: And anyways if it arrives today we cannot process it as it has to go on our computer system and we close at 3pm.
*look at clock, it reads 2pm...more foot tapping*
Me: Can you please call and find out if the paperwork has been received?
Them: *a sigh and a phone call later*  Oh they are obviously are backed up as they have only started processing your application today.  It should be here on Thursday.

*I leave no wanting to be arrested*   >:( >:( >:( >:(

I mean if I am going to miss a deadline I let people know otherwise I get snot-o-grams and expect to deal with it, stay late if I have to.  It's why I get 'popstar' wages (even though it doesnt feel like it)

To top it off I havent been able to do any work today (which means I have to do more tomorrow) as I have been waiting for a technician to correct a fault caused by an automatic network update over the weekend which means I cannot logon at all.

*rant over*  >:( >:( >:( >:(  (for now  ::) ::) ::))

General Discussion Area / Coolant leak - part 2
« on: 11 October 2008, 12:37:31 »
So I took off the plenum etc today after etting it cool down overnight to get at the oil cooler plate and ECU temp sensor and this is what I found:

What does everyone think?  It was dry when I got in there but then it could have all evapurated off the V area.

That brown stuff looks like a mix of rust and alu corrosion and comes off like a paste.

Any ideas?  Is my motor fubar?

General Discussion Area / Indefinite Leave to Remain - the latest
« on: 10 October 2008, 10:12:30 »
Well now I am really p!ssed off!

It would appear that even though we got my wife's marriage visa just as her Airline visa was due to run out, it wasn't stamped by Heathrow Passport Control (and therefore validated) until 5 months after the fact.  Even though she was coming in and out of the country almost weekly with work.

So she has not been here for 2 years on a marriage visa and thus does not qualify for ILR yet!!!  We have been told to get another marriage visa and apply later, oh and it costs £600!!!  (not to mention the £1000 the ILR will cost)

I dont understand it. the wife is:

-Amercian
-Paying UK taxes and NI
-Abides by all UK laws
-Helps with a few community projects when she isnt working
-Does not claim any benifits
-is married to an Army Officer

Yet if she had come into the UK via the back of a lorry and claimed asylum she would be given a house, car and a wad of cash to sit on her arse!

UK PLC robbin @rsehole f#ckers......  >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

Quick question:

Is it legal to carry a small trailer on a roofrack, assuming it is within the weight limit and properly secured?

I have banded the question about my peers and a lot of sucking of teeth has been done....I cant see why not..... :-/
