2.2 petrol exhaust manifold
« on: 05 May 2021, 13:41:12 »

I am hoping someone could help me locate a supplier for an exhaust manifold and fitting kit for my 2002 2.2 petrol. I have been in touch with buycarparts.co.uk who kept insisting the one they had was suitable, even though their own website said it was for a 2 litre model, they eventually admitted defeat when I gave them the part no (24420438). My Vauxhall dealer can get one from Germany for £197.98 but say they can’t get the gasket. The only other option is to have the crack in my one welded, but I’m not sure if this can be done in situ, and if I’m going to the trouble of removing it I may as well put a new one on. Any ideas?

2.0 16v manifold/gasket is almost certainly the same iirc :-\

Part number may be different though.

Try Elring for a head kit for the gaskets.

Welding cast iron manifolds is one of those crossed fingers, hope for the best, and add a blood sacrifice to improve the chances of it being successful, jobs. If you have to pay someone who can prove they've done a good job of these before - it isn't just a matter of turning up a £250MIG and snotting in some wire - then I'd suggest being very cautious. I don't see how a worthwhile job could be done without removing it.

I'd be buying the new manifold, and sourcing an aftermarket gasket.

Is the 2.2 used in other Vauxhalls, like the 2.0 was? Try other models for the exhaust gasket?

The manifolds are different, 2.2 lacks the air injection holes.  :y

Vauxcentre used to have stock

A genuine GM #24443291 gasket is available here on ebay @ £29.99 delivered. This gasket is the one listed in EPC for Y22XE & Z22XE.

EPC suggests that this part also supersedes the original X20XEV versions. IE backwards compatible. So the latest gasket is the same whatever about the manifold.
