No it isn't... But it's also not supposed to be a free for all for bully boys who think they're tough to bully children

It isn't really a prison is it?  :-\ more like Borstal or a home for naughty boys.

Just the kind of place where bullies mustn't be allowed to be in charge.

These 'prison officers' should be sent to work at a proper prison, they'd shit themselves.

Dead easy to be a "hard man" when dealing with 12-17 year olds .... shame the system doesn't allow someone else to give them a taste of their own medecine ...

these 12-17 year olds would not think twice about robbing/raping/murdering your wives, sisters, mother or any other relative at knife or gunpoint on the street to be accepted into a gang...staff are regularly assaulted I know of one personally who went through a break down(failings of management)....these children as you guys put it may be children in age but definitely not in there actions. But as I say prison (and lets be fair it is prison) is not supposed to be the easy option

It's actually Borstal, where the term comes  from. Borstal being a suburb of Rochester where there are a couple of prisons.

There once was a girl from Rochester
In Metal I did try to test her.
She answered my questions
With no imperfections
It was clear that I never could best her.

Whose ? ? ? ?  ? started to fester
She ignored it so long
Until the staggering pong
Caused a whiff
Even up in Manchester.

I did wonder where Borstal actually was. There is another prison at Boarstall near Bicester & I wondered if the spelling had morphed over time.

Having been a reasonably regular visitor to the local young offenders, in my experience, these people cannot be reasoned with. They are out of control, and uncontrollable without physical restraint/punishment.

They will reoffend, no matter how they are treated. They will be nothing but a menace and a burden.

Admittedly, young offenders is probably at a slightly older age range than that that's made the news in Kent.

they are and the wardens are attacked on a regular occurance its not the "service users' ( new term
for gun/knife  wielding gang member) who need protecting it would seem,. most do go on to re offend  and yes they are out control and without the threat of physical punishment there would no order with in
