I need to find the correct replacement central locking ECU for my 2000 F/L ex plod 3.0 MV6. I was looking through a post from a couple years back in which Dr G pointed out that the plod 3.2's had an Elite loom for the fitment of the CL ECU, does any one know does that apply to the 3.0 as well? :-\

The engine is irrelevant. Its the car spec. GLS and below are Central Locking. CD and above are ATWS. FL Estate is different to FL Saloon.
If a saloon FL, I'd suggest getting one from a later car to avoid that annoying having to remove key from ign to open the boot.

Thanks for the info Jamie,Omegas 52 has a few but is there any way of identifying the correct item,because they all seem to have different part numbers on them.

There will be a yellow sticker with two letters on it. Match the letters and the part number doesn't matter ;)

OP - Central Locking or ATWS? Saloon or Estate?

Ex police saloon so no anti theft, tried an alternative solenoid but still has the same problem....hence the faulty ECU theory. I'm going out to the car and taking a look at the ECU for a part number :y

I would be looking to repair broken wires in the door looms near the door Hinges before I started worrying about swapping ECUs

that would be my advice too. I sold my car before fitting the replacement door loom.

Rewelding the check strap has the potential to cause issues... Ecu lives behind it ;)

The ECU is working...but when unlocking the car with the fob it unlocks and then re locks instantly,but only on dry days, damp days works perfectly.Door strap was done a long time ago by Serek and as we know he's done quite a few in his time,and all wires etc are in good condition.The only large letters on the ECU are CG but not yellow :-\

That's exactly what mine did, but was worse with the door open. I would still be checking the wiring.

Had a new one ready but wasn't needed,a little on the slow side but lubed up and works O.K. All done at Serek's yesterday,so I'm sort of working at his request to locate another C/L ECU. ::)

The lock/unlock behavior is a failure mode of a front motor ;)

O.K, I'm back with Serek on Thursday and I'll get them to fit the replacement motor, but I'll still need to take an ECU as a back up,because it's a 200+ mile round trip each time.Gets a bit of a PITA doing it again if I don't have the parts. ::) thanks Al for the advice :y

Just double check the part number.
Also do the interior lights work as advertised?

Nope....never have since I bought it back in 2010,interior lights come on and go straight off when the drivers door is opened,also come on and go off in a similar fashion when the light switch is pulled to put them on. Just thought they were victims of police abuse and never placed any significance on them not working properly :-\

Insert the tools and eject the CD cartridge and any cassette. Then insert your fingers deep into the cassette slot and the CDC slot and slowly pull whilst trying to move the unit side to side.
Slowly and smoothly should see it removed with no damage. The idea being to carefully ease it out without pulling the front off ;)
All of which has absolutely SFA to do with the central locking :D
