UN report shows deliberate use of chemical weapons on a hospital:

"UN Mission also finds that, on the same day, the army directly and intentionally
attacked the Al Quds Hospital and the adjacent ambulance depot with white
phosphorous shells.
"
Report of the United Nations Fact Finding Mission 15 September 2009 para 35

http://www.clevelandchallenger.com/u-s-media-suppressed-2009-un-report-showing-israel-using-chemical-weapons-against-palestinians/

That site seems to be down a lot  here is a similar Guardian report:
Human Rights Watch report claims war crimes committed in use of air-burst white phosphorus artillery shells

assad family is keeping the power in their hands for many years.. they are not that stupid to use chemical weapons after saddams end..
and who claims that must show the proofs ..   cant see anything related to see syria or am I blind :-\

No it wasn't Syria chemically attacking the hospital it was the country that holds the record for ignoring United Nations Security Council resolutions and is  currently in breach of over 44 UN resolutions.  Unlike both Syria and Iran they have never signed the Nuclear Non Proliferation treaty nor ratified the Chemical Weapons Convention.

The US does send plenty of bombs to them but they go by ship not plane.

Is the problem with the jump leads heating up caused by very high internal resistance in the completely dead battery, or is there another problem causing it?

It's either the battery being completely flat and cheap jump leads trying to carry all the starting current and/or a short in the battery (very low internal resistance).  I suppose it could be a severe short to earth in the car, unlikely though.  Try taking the battery out and jumpstarting the car with decent cables, check if they get warm after connection but before trying starting. If so a bad short to earth/negative, remove them.

Since I bought the battery only a few months ago, is there likely to be some sort of guarantee I can claim on, or are they (quite justifiably) going to blame the car?

defo worth a try

£36.26 inc VAT  http://www.tayna.co.uk/065-Numax-Car-Battery-P966.html  Not the best batt in the world but would do.

Actually that CCA is low you would be better with an 096 battery currently £48 delivered on ebay

It's quite easy to check the charging system and for leaks with a voltmeter.
How do I check for leaks?  The car was in and out of the garage for a couple of months and they were supposed to be looking for the problem.  (Don't use that garage any more - utterly useless.)

open bonnet, put brick on bonnet alarm switch, double lock the car wait 15 minutes then put a clamp ammeter round the battery earth connector. Should read below 80ma. Without a clamp meter it is not quite so simple but not difficult, have a search on the forum.  These devices are good for pinning down the faulty fused circuit http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/350781232763 if you need to keep it simple.

I can recommend these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/121166629325 he must be running low as previously he was selling them at as low as £5 delivered.

I think you miss my point - twin towers are not there anymore and there was no earthquake.

twin towers were earthquake resistant

you definitely need (another) new battery.  I expect that will get the car back into the state it was before.  Why did it die though?  Could be a drain or fault on the car charging side.

Dead batteries can kill chargers especially the fancy ones like Ring.  Often though the charger will trip out and reset after a while unplugged.

Make sure you use quality jumper leads but anyway full starting curent (plus more if your battery is shorted) will challenge any leads.

1. it's always windy somewhere.

2. if an act of nature can cause that damage what would an act of terrorism do?

Very odd.  Everytime I type "night watchmen" but without the space it appears on the forum as nighidiotchmen.

Someone please try it before it gets fixed :).  You only have to preview your message to see it, you don't actually have to post :

Is it directed at someone I wonder.

The only credible available technology to fill the energy gap is nuclear and preferably Thorium nuclear as it is much safer and produces far safer nuclear waste, with Cesium 137 the biggest byproduct which has a half life of 30 years.

Just looked this up.

1) Caesium 137 "is among the most problematic of the short-to-medium-lifetime fission products because it easily moves and spreads in nature due to the high water solubility of caesium's most common chemical compounds, which are salts."

2) "Thorium cannot in itself power a reactor; unlike natural uranium, it does not contain enough fissile material to initiate a nuclear chain reaction. As a result it must first be bombarded with neutrons to produce the highly radioactive isotope uranium-233 – 'so these are really U-233 reactors,' says Karamoskos. This isotope is more hazardous than the U-235 used in conventional reactors, he adds, because it produces U-232 as a side effect (half life: 160,000 years), on top of familiar fission by-products such as technetium-99 (half life: up to 300,000 years) and iodine-129 (half life: 15.7 million years).Add in actinides such as protactinium-231 (half life: 33,000 years) and it soon becomes apparent that thorium's superficial cleanliness will still depend on digging some pretty deep holes to bury the highly radioactive waste.

15.7 million years!  That's just for half of it to disappear.  What do you reckon the total salary bill for 3 night watchmen working in shifts for 30 million years is? Plus 3 dogs,  some guns and barbed wire. My guess is £40 trillion at todays prices. Which is about 30 times the entire national debt.

The problem with wind turbines is that they are not a reliable source of power

Hoiw reliable is this?

The past winter was 2012 ::) and aboot the only detail not highlighted ;D

While were at it Nickbat, it isn't a false statistic, it just doesn't help the argument ::)

I would have credited eagles with being brighter than that though :-\

I meant false comparison (not like-for-like). My bad.  :-[

How about "Collisions with wind turbines account for about 0.1% of all "unnatural" bird deaths in the United States each year" then (from my link)?
