Such a load of patronising crap economics that I couldn't listen to it all.  Also a very blatant rip off of Adam Curtis's style, for anyone who watched the excellent  'Power of Nightmares' or 'The Trap'.

This advert plays to the worst middle class paranoia and is based on a load of lies, have a look at the facts:

It also takes no account of the immense improvements in technology and production.

Capitalist will end, simply because it contains the seeds of its own destruction- as a Capitalist how can you keep making money if you keep screwing the 99%?  Who will buy your goods?  How Will You Get Robots to Buy Cars? http://quoteinvestigator.com/2011/11/16/robots-buy-cars/

One irritating example - the predicted run on the banks.    Northern Rock only happened because that idiot Brown and the BoE bureacucrats couldn't have a simple and fast  compensation scheme.  Now there is one, and the first £85K of anyones savings with a single bank is guaranteed, who would bother queuing outside a bank for hours?  To say the government couldn't pay the compensation is stupid, the government can just print the stuff! (and they levy a fee for their trouble every year from the banks)

Here you go! I've just got a quote from rescuemycar.com and for a 13 year old car the quote comes in at £18.90 for everything but home assistance and £28.90 with home assistance!  :y

As said earlier they were very efficient when I broke down last year, but beware of the £40 excess!! The first thing they do when you phone for help is ask for a card number!  ::)

However if you don't use them, it's very cheap peace of mind!  :y

http://www.rescuemycar.com/

That is an amazing price.  You need to read the small print but on first glance it looks no worse than some others at over double the price.  e.g. National cover is often not what you might want, in this case

"National
if your vehicle is not repairable at a local garage within the same working day, we will either; recover you, your vehicle and your passengers to your home or original destination, provide alternative travel for you and your passengers to your home or original destination or provide alternative accommodation for you and your passengers.
"

I can't imagine they will choose to recover the vehicle over the other two options very often (it is their choice not yours).  I expect a lot of people here would prefer recovery to their home at their own choice so they can fix it themselves at their leisure.

Omega General Help / Re: Rusty Arches - Repair
« on: 03 September 2013, 00:58:15 »
Even after it's all been treated you'll still need to keep an eye on them - it's a bit like the Forth bridge. Getting good protection on the thin edge of the metal inside the arch is tricky. I've tried different paints, sealants etc. The best, although still not perfect is still a good gob of old engine oil taken from somewhere where it's got thick and tacky over the years. Don't forget to also check the trailing edges of the rear doors.

I'm assuming the rust all began on the outside (bottom) of the arch inner (horizontal) edge.  That's where the stones would hit I guess.  Had it begun on the top and eaten through to the bottom I wouldn't have much edge left.  So I've been a bit remiss treating the top edge.  I need to clean it out now and slap some Vactan and underseal on it.

Couldn't find any rust on the doors, only the rear arch (wing and door frame) and 3 small patches on the sill tops normally covered by the doors.

Daily Mail: "And I have interviewed the Brittany-based parents of the 41-year-old chauffeur Henri Paul. They told me, with tears in their eyes, that their son was not a heavy drinker: his chosen potion was a bottle of beer or the occasional Ricard, a liquorice-flavoured aperitif."

Ricard® pastis is 45% alcohol  :o

John Kerry the US Secretary of State was telling the world yesterday that the US government had proof that the Syrian government was responsible for the chemical weapons attack.

Today Vladimir Putin the Russian President has challenged the US to present that evidence to the United Nations.

Dosn't seem unreasonable to me!  :)

Anyone remember Colin Powell at the UN with his vial of Iraqi chemical weapons material? ;D

Donald Rumsfeld showed charts of Osama Bin Ladin's underground military complex at Tora Bora with underground facilities that a Bond villian would be proud of. ;D ;D

"Russert: The Times of London did a graphic, which I want to put on the screen for you and our viewers. This is it. This is a fortress. This is a very much a complex, multi-tiered, bedrooms and offices on the top, as you can see, secret exits on the side and on the bottom, cut deep to avoid thermal detection so when our planes fly to try to determine if any human beings are in there, it's built so deeply down and embedded in the mountain and the rock it's hard to detect. And over here, valleys guarded, as you can see, by some Taliban soldiers. A ventilation system to allow people to breathe and to carry on. An arms and ammunition depot. And you can see here the exits leading into it and the entrances large enough to drive trucks and cars and even tanks. And it's own hydroelectric power to help keep lights on, even computer systems and telephone systems. It's a very sophisticated operation.

Rumsfeld: Oh, you bet. This is serious business. And there's not one of those. There are many of those. And they have been used very effectively. And I might add, Afghanistan is not the only country that has gone underground. Any number of countries have gone underground. The tunneling equipment that exists today is very powerful. It's dual use. It's available across the globe. And people have recognized the advantages of using underground protection for themselves.

A few weeks after the "Meet the Press" interview, US special forces and their Afghan allies occupied Tora Bora. They painstakingly searched Gree Khil mountain and the surrounding area. They found no underground fortress, no hydro-electric power plant, no 2000-room hotel, no ant farm, no iron doors, no ventilating shafts. The troglodyte Lair of Bin Laden turned out to be mythic

Completely forgot to mention another option, probably the best one actually, so

7) Epoxy.  Remove as much rust as possible and apply 2 part epoxy primer directly to the steel.  The only drawbacks are that using two part paint is a bit of a pain and it is expensive. I think there's no need to treat any minor rust that you can't remove as long as its thin, dry and not covered under paint. The epoxy will soak in and seal it.

0335 is Crankshaft Position sensor "A" circuit malfunction
is that the same as incorrect RPM signal? as that is what the code lists on the maint section
Yes and is the correct (and more useful/descriptive) one for the Vx setup

Yes I was using the standard obd2 listing, where can I find the vx setup list?  It would be handy on this forum if it isn't already.  The generic list only has 3 mentions of RPM:

0505 Idle control system RPM higher than expected
0505 Idle control system RPM lower than expected
0654 Engine RPM output circuit
Check the Index sticky at top of Maintenence Guides ::)

Did that, searched for 'OBD2', 'OBDII', 'OBD', nothing.  Found it eventually buried under a paperclip, then a link in the second post down here: http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=90581.msg1155463#msg1155463. ::) ::)

And after all that it seems the official OOF description of 0335 is exactly the same as I said originally >:(.  Seems like the hidden OOF guide is wrong? ;)
