I would agree with the above. Post office are pricing themselves into oblivion (hopefully), Parcel2go have the worst customer service in the known universe. Interparcel are the best option.  :y

If Cameron really is Tory who was hamstrung by his Libdem coalition partners (as we were led to believe), he is now free to persue his own agenda, and high on the list should be the removal of the BBC royal charter and the abolition of the viewing / listening tax.
Shut the whole thing down, make it pay per view, or let it make its own choice how to survive in the real world. It doesn't really matter which road it goes, but the gravy train should hit the buffers, very soon and very hard.

Is it possible to add a members poll to the thread ? Might be a bit of a laugh.  :-\

Not much point in me doing the quiz. I have never watched a Star Wars film in my life, and hopefully never will.  :)

General Car Chat / Re: Your list of omega jobs.
« on: 03 May 2015, 14:09:30 »
The list is currently so long that I dare not think about it. Its too depressing. Im hoping to find the time / funds / energy over the summer to do the big jobs, such as handling so bad the car is almost undriveable, misfire on gas, rusty n/s wheelarch, and cambelt slightly overdue on time.
Neglect an Omega for a year and it will punish you. ::)

I have a 25 year old Merc. Im sure it was machined from one solid billet. Its unbreakable, even with well over 200k on the clock.

I would pay for the privilege of being allowed to turn on the gas, if someone rounded up enough of these specimens and locked them in a gas chamber.
I see no good argument why taxpayers should fork out circa £50k p.a. to keep each of them locked up, but alive.

I hadn't heard this song for several decades, and then it suddenly popped into my head recently for some unknown reason.

The bike weighs 216kg, so I would imagine a carefully constructed Westfield would easily weigh twice as much - thus halving the power / weight ratio. ;)
As for bikes not being able to go around corners. Seriously ??
Granted a good car will ultimately corner faster than a good bike due to the amount of rubber in contact with the road, but any modern bike will corner well above the abilities and fear threasholdof all but the bravest people.
As for the leather. Its a necessary evil for those who don't have a death wish. :)

Its like watching Wee Jimmy Cranky recite Marxist clichés - scary in all sorts of ways.
I think the Scottish referendum should be rerun, and if the result is the same as last time then Hollyrood  (and the other devolved assemblies ) should be abolished.
If we are all British we should be governed by the British Govt. in Westminster. If were getting a divorce, goodbye and good luck. Applications to join the British foreign aid programme should be made to the Dept. for overseas development.  ;)

« on: 05 April 2015, 17:29:44 »
Similar problems here. I work nightshifts and get into bed at around 8.45 am. Neighbours small yappy dog is chucked outdoors about 5 minutes later.
They never walk the damn thing , just leave it in the garden barking its head off for anything between 1 and 4 hours.
Too thick and chavvy to reason with, so some day soon it will escape from an opened garden gate, hopefully never to be seen or heard again.
I am very considerate about if and when I make noise on my property, and have no time for the type of retards who leave a dog barking in their garden for hours on end, without thinking that it might piss people off in the surrounding area.

I had a similar experience in my Omega about a month ago. Tight right hand bend (luckily with a dropped kerb onto a driveway on the outside), turned the wheel to the right but nothing happened, panic braked and still nothing happened.
Car stopped on the driveway of someones house. Got out and had a look around to find lots of diesel was sloshed all over the road.
Might be worth revisiting the accident site to take a look ?

I hope Im not speaking out of turn, but have you examined the car (or had it examined by a professional) to determine brake and steering failure ?
I have heard drivers who were a bit short of experience describe terminal understeer in a very similar manner.

« on: 29 March 2015, 06:52:45 »
Personally, to my ears, listening to a good quality album played back on a good quality turntable / tone arm / cartridge combination and amplifier and speakers made in the UK, is infinitely preferable to listening to the same material via any digital means with the same amplifier and speakers.

Maybe I'm just an old fart.... but put a modern digital media source through a valve amplifier and you suddenly realise what's missing in today's products.

Strangely I listen to MP3 media via a £3 MP3 player fed into an NCDC / Bose setup in the car...   :-[ ::) but then, it is a car!!!  ;D

Absolutely. Digital sound simply cannot replicate the "warmth and authenticity" of good quality vinyl played through a good quality system.
Just as an instrument such as an electric guitar will never sound as good through anything other than a good quality valve amp.
Having said that, it may be the case that "music" recorded in digital form in recent times is a different proposition ?
I wouldn't know,as to my ears 99% of what passes for music these days is an atrocious din. :)
