I never really wanted an XJ, but my ideal spec one became available just as I needed another car. I never really wanted an Omega - I actually wanted a Rover 800*, but as you can imagine, they were all dogs. The Omega definitely won me over. XJ sort of has, but not to the same level.
Not sure there is any car I actually genuinely desire currently**. Obviously if I won the lottery, there are some exotics I'd love to have a play in.
* Criteria then was a cheap, large comfortable transport to drive to the south of France in, with the emphasis on cheap as it was intended to be throwaway afterwards. And 3-5yr old 800 Sterlings were going for around £1200 with 80k on the clock.
